February 27th is their last day. I'm sad. I won't really miss the bar aspect, but the food was pretty dank.

I think all of next week they are offering all entrees for $10. If you sit outside, they give 10% to charity.

oversaturation of downtown bars/clubs. The collapse was inevitable!

^^^ dean ogan owns rocky top hospitality which owns, michael deans (which is changing to another tribeca tavern) bogarts, hi-5, red room, twisted fork, mash house, tribeca tavern, and their catering/events place at the chophouse.

lease is up on bogarts and he just doesn't want to renew it as far as I know other restaurants are ok.

Bogarts is cool until about 10pm. After ten they switch from classic movies and jazz music to anything hip hop and a very crowded dance floor. I enjoy the early evening atmosphere that I will actually miss this place.

Hi5 and Red Room's leases will be expiring soon as well. From what I read in the News and Observer, Rocky Top is looking to revamp all their restaurants over this upcoming year.

The lease was also a 10 year lease so I imagine the options Rocky Top had with the renewal rate probably played into their decision to close down Bogarts.

ordered a PBR can and they brought me a draft

drew a frowny face on napkin and only tipped 9%

Their food was pretty good. Didn't care for it as a club though. The Sunday brunch was the best part--unfortunate that they're closing.

Also unfortunate that Michael Dean's is no more. The times I went there everything was fantastic. Tribeca Tavern? I know not of this place, but if there's already one, does there really need to be another?

Talked with a couple of the managers at Red Room, they're moving the Bogart's brunch on Sundays to Red Room. Said there was no plans to close Red Room or Hi-5.

i've heard fantastic things from people that have gone there too.

i just went to the website, TOTALLY not what i expected from the name. i expected it to be like...more bar food which is why i was confused by the rave reviews

it looks kinda like village tavern (winston, gboro, etc)...classy but good price point. and they have brunch! def wanna try

I guess the drawback is it is in a location where I would have no reason to ever be near. I live just south of downtown and work in North Hills... what's the point in going out there?

High House and Davis... pretty close to the Chatham Co. line I think... convenient for the RTP, South Durham folks, but not for me.

^ that's not too bad for downtown and ITB folks though... this one is like 20 minutes out at least.

I will not miss the waitresses who assume that, when you hand her a $10 for a $4 beer, you want her to keep the change.
