I've wanted to play with one of these for a longgggg time now. I tried convincing my boss at work that News 14 needed one. He laughed at me.

and given the quality, I'd wager it's toward the higher end.

hopefully canon's innovation into cinema camera systems will steer them towards high speed capture since they'll be more reasonably priced.

Yes, the DSLR video is really cutting into cinema world. You are talking 100k+ camera body vs. a 2k canon body that produces even better image quality with a very versatile and "cheap" lens system. We are talking pro level lens that cost only a few thousand a piece compared to cinema lens that start at 5-10k and go up to 50k for one lens. It's still a limited system, but they will figure out ways to adapt the system for even more controls that pro level camera's have.

Canon just showed off their first inception of a pro level prototype cinema body in Paris recently so it's got a lot of people interested. Plus Red Camera's still are being slow with their camera systems and have routinely pushed back production schedules of their products. The Scarlet was suppose to be out last year but they don't have a release date for it anymore. Suppose to be around the 2-3k price, but it's highly doubtful at this point. But again, you are talking about a start up company version Canon who has a much much bigger R&D department.
