Tear staining is not uncommon in light colored toy breeds. It has nothing to do with how clean the dog is.
He could be without tags and collar because he slipped out of his collar while on a walk. This was the case with the beagle and the lab that wandered into our yard on separate occasions 2/24/2011 11:06:13 AM |

my mom left cody in charge of her dog. she dropped him off at our house. my family and i went on a cruise (cody couldnt come for one reason or another). within being gone for ONE day, finley got out and we never found him until we got back. cody was flipping we found out later he was roaming walnut near the mall and a lady picked him up and held onto him until she got the call
he wasnt fixed at the time either.
it was bananas

gonna get fixed real soon, maybe this person will learnt their lesson next time.
its unfortunate though, but thats why we have the pet laws and guidelines we advocate
so you can get your fuckin dog back without coming up with these dumbass descriptions
hope it gets found OK, hopefully the lesson learned wont be a heartbreaking one.

I hope they find their dog...
Also my dog Mo had really bad tear stains until I did a bunch of research and found that if you give them distilled water (and not tap water), their tears stop staining their fur.
i.e.
Right after we got him

Spayed/neutered dogs have a dramatically lower rate of cancer. Male dogs are much less likely to escape or wander if they're neutered. It's pretty much a no brainer.
And if you're dog doesn't have a collar then you're just asking to lose it.

wolfpackgrrr All American 39759 Posts user info edit post |
Doesn't the animal have to be put under to implant the microchip? Somebody told me that recently.
I should probably ask my vet about that next week when I'm there for an appointment rather than tdub 2/24/2011 3:50:52 PM |
Samwise16 All American 12710 Posts user info edit post |
They don't have to be under, I used to do them at the shelter... little dogs are a concern though because the microchip can come out if you don't massage it in. And you have to be sure you don't imbed it into the muscle.

See that's what I thought and then my friend said that they have to be under general anesthesia because "the needle is so big." I thought that sounded stupid and I guess it was Guess I need to see how much it'll cost to chip my one cat since she's a bitch and likes to run out the door when I'm carrying in groceries 2/24/2011 4:00:50 PM |

^2 Why do you say that? Most people don't keep their dog's microchip tag on their collar because it's supposed to be checked by every shelter/vet anyway (and sometimes they're ripped off because the tag is some rubbery type material). Sadly, they aren't always checked.
^ I'm not sure how much a vet would charge but I think at the shelter it was like $15 or so? They sometimes have microchip clinics. And yeah, that person was full of it. I used to do microchips on kittens and they didn't have to be under

I mean, the needle isn't too bad and it takes like 30 seconds, unless the animal is really fidgety.. The ones that sucked the most were the dogs/cats with leathery skin

A lot of dogs don't have their microchip tags on them... that's the beauty of one - it brings up your info when you scan the animal, so it doesn't require a tag 2/24/2011 6:05:06 PM |
BigHitSunday Dick Danger 51059 Posts user info edit post |
IN them.
these people dont have a chip implanted
and they do not have a collar on the dog
unless im missing something dogs arent born with barcodes and we currently do not have a machine capable of phenotyping via dog scan.

The people at Banfield told me to wait to have my dog microchipped when I got him fixed because of the large needle. I know Banfield is that highest quality of vets, but they know more than I do so I listened. I think they charged me over $100 to get it. 2/25/2011 5:01:30 PM |
