Anyone have any experience with something like this? I would be interested in any other make/model, just using this as a starting point to describe what Im wanting to do.

Basically wanting to stream audio from my PC to my home stereo. I'm not really interested in the transmitters that use FM channel 88.1 or whatever. I've used those in vehicles and haven't been too impressed with them.

Instead of connecting the speakers to the device I'd like to find one that plugs into the audio in on the stereo system.

itunes is not an option. Would prefer a "dumb" system. I dont need it to run/stream anything. I just want to plug it into the speakers out on my PC and into audio/aux in on the stereo.

^^ Was reading the specs on that set up but not sure its what I want. Still looking at it.

Buy a Bluetooth stereo transmitter and a Bluetooth stereo receiver. Should do exactly what you want it to do and work with any device.

I don't know anything about the transmitters, but I use a Blackberry Stereo Gateway in my car (it's powered off mini-USB, so you can just get a mini-USB -> USB wall outlet charger) and it works really well.

that's pretty much all the sony does.

transmits audio to your home stereo using RCA.

Phase one of AWESOMENESS is complete. I hooked it up and just had to tell VLC to use this device and was able to hear sound on my stereo. Just need to finish setting up the streaming part but so far so good.
