How long should it take for a hotel charge to show up on your credit card statement?
We went to SF in Mid october and the charge just showed up this month on our statement. is that normal or strange? 3/2/2011 10:22:12 PM |

Please look at your November statement and make sure that you weren't charged back then, too. 3/2/2011 10:25:32 PM |

I usually see the full room charge within hours, next business day at worst. 3/2/2011 10:26:12 PM |

I was once charged 31 years after I bought a doughnut from Dunkin Donuts. 3/2/2011 10:28:10 PM |

Sounds like you could call up your credit card company and refute the charge since you didn't stay there this month. 3/3/2011 12:06:28 AM |

Same kind of thing happened to a friend of mine not too long ago. Several of us split a room when we stayed in Greenville for the ECU game. It didn't show up on his CC until like 3 or 4 months later, right as he was ready to give us our part of the money back.
He was going to call and complain, but didn't. What if the card was maxed out at the time and they caused you to go over your limit? I'd be pissed.
Of course, they'd be screwed if the card was canceled when they tried to charge it.] 3/3/2011 12:33:53 AM |

so did they not charge you in october or november? The only time I've had delayed charges is when I was out of the country, and even then it was only by about a month. That is absolutely ridiculous. 3/3/2011 8:24:43 AM |

^^^ That would suck, but not the merchants fault imo. It would be the same as if a check cleared a month later after you spent the money instead of balancing it, causing you to overdraft. 3/3/2011 8:39:24 AM |

Strange. My hotel charges show up usually within a few days of the stay. 3/3/2011 9:27:46 AM |

I've known people to get their money back in similar situations. A business can't just sit on their ass and then one day months later decide to charge you for services rendered. Well, they can, but Visa doesn't seem to take too kindly to it if you call and complain to them.3/3/2011 9:31:49 AM |

That would mean that you don't keep up with your finances.
