i am not drunk

i spent three hours doing drum tracks tonight, though, so i might be a bit loopy

but seriously, "echos myron" is a brilliant song

Strong candidate for me lately:

Nightwish - Ghost Love Score

Because I'm sentimental to mainstream 90's rock:

Everlong - Foo Fighters

I can't embed.

...I certainly like it. I certainly can't fault it for anything. No doubt it's a good song.

But for me it lacks that sort of energizing HOLY SHIT I FUCKING LOVE THIS factor that I get from some other songs.

Not that I can think of any particular song that I would call "the best of all time", largely because I hate the idea of an over-arching "best song" in the first place.

...Not the best songs ever, but I like Spoon, so I'm posting them anyway:

I think some pieces of music are even better than this one but they have no lyrics so IMO they aren't "songs":

"Must Be Dreaming" from Frou Frou - Details (2002): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uryUCVhjtr4

As an unrepentant GBV fan, I can't fault this (though I might have gone with Game of Pricks.) Care of Cell 44 is another good choice.

However Bob himself (quite drunkenly) said Baba O'Riley is "the fucking best song in the fucking world and anyone who disagrees fuck you" when they played it to end their show at Cat's Cradle in '02 or '03 (don't remember.)

The best song of all-time can't possibly be a ripoff of better songs written 20 years earlier by ACTUAL brits.

Ever heard Uncle Tupelo's version of "No Depression"

Being a Wilco fan, I'm guessing you have... but UT's version is wonderful

"Closer" from Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral (1994)

I think "Mr. Self-Destruct" and "Ruiner" are better songs from that album, "The Perfect Drug" is the best NIN song, and "I'm Afraid of Americans" is the best song that Trent Reznor had any part in.

My wife and I danced to this as our first song at our wedding... kindof as a joke referencing Big Love. I only think one or two people got it, which is fine.

this thread reminds me of this other thread:

http://thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=427837

mostly because I totally posted a ton of songs in my one post

today, I think the best song of all time is "Be Mine" by REM

this will likely change tomorrow
