Haviland aircraft
Haviland thin mints

and these are just the recent relatives.

go back far enough and everyone with Scottish and English ancestry will have some connection to the Henry line and to Mary

genealogy fail.

there's a huge difference in a direct descendant and some tangential familial relationship.

what Ernie posted indicates he is a direct descendant.

I'm a direct decendant of an original pioneer of Catawba County...that's as good as it gets for me, the trail runs cold in Germany in the 1650s

I am related by marriage to Jefferson Davis (president of the confederate states during the Civil War). Perhaps not technically an "ancestor" since it's not a blood relation, but interesting nonetheless.

Andrew Jackson on my maternal grandfather's side and a Cherokee princess on my maternal grandmother's side

Not sure about my paternal side, but I know it's quite a bit of French folk

[Edited on March 7, 2011 at 3:13 PM. Reason : I don't know if "princess" is the proper terminology but whatev, you get the point]

george washington duke was my great great great great great great grandfather's brother. the ancestry.com "relationship to me" screen isn't big enough for me to do it in 1 screenshot.

not quite direct, but close

we've got a couple of DAR folks in the tree but i think everybody lost interest. i don't really know much about it.

my dad's side of the family came over in the mid 1600s. we're not exactly sure how they got here but just going by birth & death locations & dates we can tell. my great great grandfather was native american also.

Michael Gaffney (great grandpa x8) came over and founded Gaffney, South Carolina with a pub. We have his handwritten journal when he came over. The town of Gaffney has myself, sister, parents, etc. listed in their official registry as direct decedents.
