just kidding - its a huge city and I'm sure the internet is packed with information about this!

plus, when I'm on the ground I should be able to figure it out pretty easily

I'm going to try to buy a stupid hat in Harajuku

I'm glad I did a little reading because it turns out my prescription meds are stupid DO-NOT-PASS-GO illegal in Japan

Don't worry, they never actually check your meds at customs. (Of course, now that I've told you this, they'll check yours at the airport )

When you go to Harajuku stop at the shop that has the really creepy rabbit mannequins. There's also a hilarious drag/mardi gras costume shop on the main alleyway.

^^ inorite!

they told me I'm on the short list and asked, hopefully, if I was still interested in the position
its a miracle I found a job that is precisely what I went to school for

^ awesome - creepy rabbits are my favorite
I'm looking to get a nice winter hat that resembles a panda fucking the back of my skull

I'm sure you could find something like that in Harajuku, although with it now being spring it'll be harder to find winter clothes. Another area you could check for weird head accessories is Akihabara and maybe even Shinjuku, but that area tends to be more mainstream teeny bopper crap.

The science museum in Odaiba is pretty cool and is mostly bilingual. Toyota also has a big showroom there if you want to look at new cars. The Sony showroom is also cool.

I lucked out and I'll be meeting up with my Ukrainian buddy because by total coincidence he's in Tokyo at the same time (we went to school together in NYC)

his cousins live in Tokyo so hopefully they'll show us around a bit too

If you have some cash to blow go to this place:

http://alcatraz.hy-system.com/

It's an Alcatraz/ER themed restaurant. Unfortunately when we went we didn't realize there were showtimes along with the usual chaos of this place so we left just before the show was starting since we had reservations at the ice bar later in the evening. The place is kind of expensive, but if you go for just a cocktail or two and an appetizer it's a lot of fun.

Loudly repeat the words "Hiroshima" and "Nagasaki" everywhere you go.

Also, if you could learn how to say, "Emperor Showa was a god-damned war criminal" in Japanese, that'd be pretty cool.
