Need some info on this place, never heard of it but my friends invited me to go there. Anything cool, uncool, good, bad about it? Any bars on the island? Is it worth the drive to savanah for night life? If we drink beer on the beach will we draw good or bad attention?

thanks for the help.

Went there for a weekend field trip in like second grade. Lots of tiny scurrying crabs and marsh land. I am not sure about anything else.

Best case scenario: Hooters bikini team stays next door all week, party with them.
Worst case scernario: sit alone on beach drinking cheap rum
Most likely scenario: sit with a few friends drinking cheap rum

yeah, the light house...and there's other cool historicalesche places. It strikes me as a "family vacation" destination rather than a "crazy spring break" destination...I would say it's better than Daytona.

do yourself a favor and wait in the line to eat at The Breakfast Club. It's pretty fucking good. I also particularly like their coffee.

Other than that, it's just your typical southern coastal beach strip. I enjoy it for what it is, which is like a poor man's Wrightsville Beach. Just go and have fun. They sell beer and it's kind of trashy at the bars at night which I find hysterical.

AJ's for dinner isn't bad either.

Shit is off the chain. If you can't find anywhere to stay, savannah is the shit too. Those are by far the best places I've ever visited and I can't wait to go back.

My grandparents house is on Tybee. We love it. Nice beach, good food, quiet for the most part.

I go there everytime I head to Savannah. You are 15 min away from Savannah, there are a few bars near the pier. They are ok, but nothing to brag about. If you like fresh seafood, the crab shack is a good place to go and uncle bubba's is good to. I will be there this upcoming weekend. But if you like low key and a good atmosphere, tybee will be fine. If you want to go all out crazy, Savannah is where you need to go. If you wanna go to Savannah, PM me and I can sugest a shit ton of good bars.

Also, you can drink on the beach as long as its not in a glass bottle.

Went last 4th of July with some friends and it was fantastic! Savannah weeds out a lot of people so it is a solid beach crowd. We got turbo on the beach and the bars are plenty of fun in the evenings. Everything is CHEAP too. I would say definitely check it out.

I lived in Savannah (about 20 minutes away) last summer and was on the island almost every weekend. It was basically a paid vacation so I had a lot of free time. DO NOT GOTO THE CRABSHACK!!!! It's nothing but a tourist trap. I know one of the managers there and the place is not very sanitary at all. Any of the other seafood places on the island are butter though.

Also I wasn't impressed with the breakfast club I liked sunrise so much better. It was an all you can eat breakfast place for i think 5 bucks or so. Best corn beef hash ever!

If your wanting a slice of pizza or a bar to goto at night goto Huckapoo's. That place is the shit and I spent many night gettin sloshed with the locals there.

Feel free to shoot me a PM if you have any questions.

Also if you intend to go to Savannah during your stay there I can give you some great suggestions based on your tastes as well.

The crab shack might be a tourist trap, but when I ate there the food was really good.

Sunrise reminds me of a K&W.

Breakfast Club >>> Sunrise to me. But i've eaten at both and would do so again.

BTTT...now that we are an older crowd anyone have any newer experiences with Tybee Island? My parents are putting together a beach vacation and are thinking of somewhere new and this is an option.
