Neil Scroggins is good, and there is a chick (can't remember her name) at blue flame who is real good- I know a lot of people who have gotten her work, and are waiting to get more done by her.

I would say the best place to go is a licensed tattoo parlor. I think they mean business whereas friends and underground tattoo places are more dangerous and sketchy.

I had Christie at Blue Flame do most of mine- she even corrected the work of another guy that works (or did work) at Blue Flame. I've also seen some pics on fbook of an especially beautiful phoenix Annie did for a girl I knew at state.

So I guess I'll be checking out Blue Flame in the near future. The tattoo I want has a lot of straight lines, but the albums on their website really only shows a handful of tattoos with straight lines. I'm sure one of their artist can at least direct me to the artist that would probably do it best.

They've been legit for years. Don't know who you heard the criticism from, but there are some shady folks who will talk shit about good shops.

Scroggins, Annie (though I heard she's moving back to Germany), or Marco Sullivan are all excellent. With that said, they'll all direct you to someone who might be better suited to the design you want.
