I was plugging my laptop (non-HDMI) into the TV (Vizio VT420M) via RGB. I switched to LCD on my laptop and the TV started to auto select the signal as it always has. Instead of showing the default blue screen when there's no signal present, the screen now is only gray, no matter what I do. It as if the backlight is illuminated but there's no picture. I cannot see any menus when I input using the buttons on the TV or on the remote. My guess is that it actually IS doing something, but the image isn't making it to the screen. This TV is less than a year old but is out of warranty. Any options other than getting a new TV? I just dropped 550 bucks on it and would rather fix it for a hundred or two than rather buying a new TV all together. Its a sweet TV - when it's working.
I have tried restarting it - hot and cold. Unplugged, moved outlets, etc. Looked for a reset button or something. However, there is a 'service only' port in the back. My guess is that it's used for diagnosing problems such as this. Need my TV for the tourney! Halp! 3/18/2011 12:43:00 AM |
