Bikinis aren't just for tanning. It's basically a way to walk around almost naked in the heat--as you can imagine, an excellent way to stay cool and comfortable under the Sun...especially versus some full coverage one-piece in a "slimming" dark color.

I'm aware. But it's different when there's sweat and water involved. You get that breeze, and the water evaporates off your exposed skin, and it cools you down. Plus, swimsuits aren't made out of the same materials as bedouin clothes or whatever. A bikini is blatantly cooler than a one-piece.
