Too bad it's not the ghost of Lou Rawls. That would be awesome (due to age).

Well the good news is that since posting that thread I have since located a bank, so this is no longer an issue.

However, I was still surprised by the lack of customer service there.

I now aggressively pursue adversarial people with the same level they pursue me. Case in point, you stare at me at a redlight, rather than race you, I will just pick my nose. If you select me for a TSA screening, I will become aroused intentionally so you feel violated instead of me.

doing the work of a bank because you're too lazy to go to one is not customer service, because you're not at a bank

now, if a place wants to do that as a courtesy, good for them, but then it's more work for them when they visit their bank

but by no means should a hardware store be expected to provide you with banking services

Will you hold these five dollars for me, and then give them back to me the next time I'm here?

The willingness to make change and deal in currency is a cost and expectation you assume when you go into business. It is a public good and something you do.

Case in point - bitch at Walgreens tried to pull the same shit on me saying they don't make change.

So I said, "Ok, I would like to purchase this fifty cent stick of gum with my $50 bill please."

I guess phrasing it that way she broke down and just gave me change.

Listen people, it's called customer service. If you don't understand that then go back to whatever country you and Obama came from.

it is probably against company policy because someone gave change and fucked it up because the cash register doesn't tell them how to count, so they made a sweeping policy change to help prevent discrepancies of that nature.

You weren't supposed to give change from the register when I worked at Lowes either.

Dealing in currency when making a business transaction, yes. That's not handing out change to whoever wants it.

That's not phrasing it differently, that's engaging in business. It's totally different than just trading coins for bills.

You're a tard because the only business we engaged in was her breaking my 50 into smaller units of currency. I did not purchase the gum. If you want to consider leveraging a trivial purchase as a social consequence to get what you want as business, then go ahead and call it that.

Does not change the fact that I later stole the gum anyway and that you are a retard.

I am lying about one of those claims, and I will give you a hint, it's not about you being retarded.

The fact that your laziness was trumped only by her willingness to violate company policy does not change the fact that buying something, no matter how small, and making change without a business transaction occuring are two totally different things.

It's the fact that I persuaded her to violate company policy that really gets me off.

The only bastion of any economic activity left in this country is centered on any degree of impropriety, no matter how small. I claim victory.

And I got my change and it cost me nothing - hence net gain for me.

You people are conditioned into thinking that the labor of getting tender out of register and dealing with a customer requires compensation from the consumer. That's where you're wrong. If you're anything less than a 1:1 on your currency changeout, then the corporate mantra has you brainwashed. A dollar is a dollar.

Except while you bounce from store to store #winning at needlessly converting your annoying forms of currency back and forth I'm getting dollar:dollar+interestandcashback.

But unless you buy something from the store, you're not a customer.

A bank does your change for you because you're already doing business with them, and it's worth the hassle of making change to earn interest off your other cash.

That's not true! I get change from banks where I don't bank all the time!

You voted for Obama didn't you?

The customer-vendor relationship is reflexive in that you are a customer as soon as you do any type of business, rather than customership being a prerequisite to business. You really don't know anything about business do you?

And those banks are just like the stores that will also perform this operation for you. Still, it's not expected.

So not to divert from obviously meaningful discourse but today I ate

like 7 chebani yogurts, half a sushi plate, like 8 matzos crackers, one serving of chicken alfredo, an everything bagel with strawberry cream cheese, and like a whole six pack of san pellegrino limonatas

the most important question being - like a whole six pack of limonatas??? wtf
