Not really, but Hillary was an essential ally in 2016, too

How is Nancy Pelosi an “essential ally”? She plays lip service and opposes policies that are actually beneficial to minorities. And then she pulls this “All Lives Matter” garbage again.

This comment sums it up:

Quote :
"Fun fact: You selectively choose whose statements to analyze and how to analyze them. The statement was not made up. It was a mischaracterization of an article someone else published. Will you, for example, analyze Rep. Steve Scalise's flagrantly false statement on / misrepresentation of the graduated income tax?! No?! I understand the utility of fact checkers, but they don't consistently check everyone. It therefore leads to unfair, unbalanced portrayals of one's honesty."

Meanwhile, Republicans have been basing their last four decades of fiscal policy on literal napkin math. They just passed a multi-trillion dollar tax cut with the demonstrably false justification of "it will pay for itself". Nah, fuck that noise, Anderson Cooper is a tool for even asking her that shit.

All observations about the inequality of the fact checking are valid.

Did we stop fact checking some others so harshly because they lie constantly?

They purchased it below market price in an area without many parks, would have been a great addition for parks considering that most of the walking trails are already done

Having Pelosi and Schumer respond to Trump tonight is dumb.

The Democrats should trot someone else out who can speak well. Someone that Fox News hasn’t made up a bunch of shit about yet. Then when they start to focus on said speaker, the next time there’s a response, the Dems switch to yet another new person. Just keep going so they have to expand out from their usual circle of targets until they can’t keep up with who the “new threat to civilization” is.

i'm inclined to agree but they did a good job dunking on trump when they had that televised meeting, so maybe they won't suck at this?

He pretty much did that to himself, anyone with a brain could have dunked on him

Pelosi is a boring speaker and Schumer is basically a Republican. Neither will say anything truly meaningful.

I don't agree with their general views of what the party platform should but but they are the leaders of the party and should speak for the party. Especially since neither is making a run for President, because just about anyone else could be seen as endorsing or propping up a candidate.

They also aren't going out there to win over Fox News viewers, so I'm not sure what that has to do with anything.

literally no one

There really shouldn't be anything particularly political or partisan about their response. "Everything he just said was a lie, it wasn't a crisis when his party controlled Congress, and Mexico was supposed to pay for it.". I suppose they could get into the need for broader immigration reform, but I don't really see the point while the WH and Senate are still controlled by Republicans.

I don't think anyone is going to listen to anyone anyway. These rebuttal speeches are dumb, even after State of the Union addresses and especially now. I'm just saying there's an assumption that whoever gets sent out there is usually a candidate for the next election cycle, and I'm fine with the party saving their cards.

^^^ I wouldn't try to refute or list his lies. I wouldn't even spend much time refuting the idea of a wall. Just list the facts of the situation and point out how they all point to the great dealmaker's failure to deliver a wall--or even make progress--after two years with a friendly Congress.

I'd also harp on McConnell's lack of leadership in the Senate. A lot.

Come on, it was for one month, it seems like it was an honest mistake, and I seriously doubt she had anything to do with the day-to-day running of her campaign. Her campaign manager on the other hand, might need to be looking for a new job.

Interesting column about how Dems could make rural headway by embracing aggressive anti trust legislation and just generally working to reduce the power of massive companies (in general, agriculture was the focus). Also a little bit about how the Obama administration dropped the ball on this.

^^ she's still ineffective, i mean she "won" a 35 day shutdown to an unpopular president pushing for something most americans don't want and both the senate and house had already voted in favor of not including. let's set the bar a little higher than that.

she has also been in the house for a long time, so she knows how it functions

Pelosi is the kind of politician that shifts with the winds, and the winds are blowing left. She's not an obstructionist blue dog, I'll give her that. But I don't think she deserves all of the credit here.

Looking forward to seeing what happens when he appropriates defense funds for wall.

And also lining up with Canada, most of Latin America, The majority of the legitimately elected Venezuelan government and courts, and most of the Venezuelan people.

Anyone backing Maduro is lining up behind Putin, Erdogan, and Xi Jinping, so let's not have a finger pointing session here.

There's a reason why Latin American countries line up behind the US and its allies

https://i.redd.it/rr4gl7mh35611.jpg

Quote :
"The majority of the legitimately elected Venezuelan government and courts"

Maduro was legally elected with 300+ international observers present. The opposition chose not to participate and discouraged their supporters from voting. Even still, turnout was only 10% lower than the 2016 US election (46%).

https://www.globalresearch.ca/venezuela-election-observer-the-majority-have-chosen-the-path-they-want-for-venezuela/5642050
https://qz.com/1283108/venezuela-election-amid-boycotts-and-irregularities-voter-turnout-was-the-lowest-in-60-years/

Quote :
"most of the Venezuelan people."

Regardless of Maduro's approval rating (similar to Macron's, btw), do you really believe Venezuelans want the United States to interfere in their internal politics and appoint a right-wing puppet leader? Not once has a regime change resulted in less oppression, misery, and exploitation.

I recommend you watch this video linked by nacstate. This is just another example of the US paralyzing a country with sanctions and economic sabotage, then placing all of the blame on the government. You can be critical of Maduro while also understanding that US intervention is never benevolent.

I don't know why you think backing the opposition immediately means American intervention.

Do you believe that Canada and the rest of South America will also be invading Venezuela?

Also you seem to be under the impression that Gaudio is some sort of right wing extremist like Bolsonaro when AFAIK he's center left.
