I know there are e46's, newer audis, and magnus motorsports makes them for evos and hondas. I would like a relatively cheap car that can be fitted with or had the option of sequential gears. i'd prefer straight cut gears and a setup that doesn't need a clutch (dogbox). bonus points if the car is light and rwd

E46 is not a sequential gearbox. it's an automated H-pattern type transmission.

Yeah, BMW's SMG's certainly a regular gear box... Sequential Manual Gearbox. Touch paddle to shift up/down, one gear at a time... in sequence. But yeah, sure it's a traditional gear box underneath.

It's no dual clutch box but I really like the idea behind it. Rev matching, 100ms shifts, etc. I think if you (or I) lived w/one for a little while, you'd like it better. Maybe. I want to try one on track, and I may at some point but then I drive a 911 and the idea gets thrown to the back burner.

Anyway, to Nic, just get an A3 DSG, done.

you see, I am flirting with the idea of maintaining 2 cars vehicles (daily driver and a hauler) and 2 bikes (supermoto and track bike). an a3 tdi dsg would be an ideal hauler and daily driver but i wouldnt be interested in putting it on track and i can't find a used diesel. i was thinking of a daily that could see some track duty with all you cagers who won't pick up a bike with me after riding, i really hate the long throw and substantially less cool transmission in my car

Just get a mountain bike and equip it with rapid fire Race Face shifters. Way cheaper and you can make more friends by riding with them and racing them on trails compared to trying to keep up with the size of others wallets on the race track

....its a hydraulically actuated standard bmw 6 speed... Which means it still has synchros that fail like a regular manual. When someone tells me they have an SMG... i think hydraulicly or pnumatically shifted dog box...

IMHO a DSG isn't an SMG either... but by your definition it is.

you could get an ikeya formula shifter for just about any subaru with a manual.

Its not flappy paddles but its still shifts Squentially
