I don't think anyone is being racist. The article even said she lit her ex-boyfriend's clothes on fire during a domestic dispute, so why should anyone be surprised when she gets involved in more domestic disputes?

This is no different than the time Tanya Harding got in a domestic dispute with her boyfrined and hit him in the head with a hub cap. Was anyone really surprised when that happened?

I am going for vast conspiracy where Nifong rigged the evidence against her by somehow influencing the hospital to fail to keep him alive just so he could indirectly influence the prosecution to protect his interests in defending himself against the Duke boys' civil suit.

It makes sense if you don't think about it and is a tempting argument because he's obviously evil and the state is so screwed up that even Easley is facing jailtime #NCjustice.
