I started finding gray hairs around the age of 16 or so.

My brother started around 12 (he's younger than me). I like to think I started him on the path to premature gray hair.

I started at 24 noticing a gray hair in my eyebrow. I kept thinking it was blonde, so I just pulled it out once. And then two came in. So then I started clipping it, and I noticed the exact same strand on the other side doing the same thing, so I clipped it.

I haven't seen them lately, but I know now not to pull them out and just to cut instead.

No gray hairs yet, but still paranoid about watching that hairline, and with all the lawsuits about unknown side effects of hair loss topical stuff (i.e. loss of concentration as a symptom of use), I am starting to hope I just get the genetic lottery.

Pulling a gray hair out and getting two more is a myth...

I'm 27 and I've been getting gray chest hairs for the past 2 or 3 years. I'll find a gray hair in the head every month or so. Nobody other than myself or my girlfriend has noticed it, so I don't know if that's technically "going gray" yet. I'm guessing by the time I'm 30 it will be slightly noticeable.

Yeah but it happened to me. I was like wtf. I heard that before and thought well even if it's not blonde and happens to be gray it won't hurt anything. And then no shit two came in.

In the time it took for your hair to grow back in (about 4-5 months), you happened to have another gray hair come out in the same area...

at 32 now, I still don't notice them unless it gets fuzzy behind my ears. people at work think i'm 25 or so until i tell them

Does hair gray through natural anatomical occurrences or is it the result of sun, denial of oxygen (hats), etc? Does it only affect the head or everywhere else as well?

I'm just curious because a full bush of gray hair would be kind of nasty. I'm laughing a little at the prospect of my wife still shaving down there in 50 years.

I personally pluck it all, it's much less expensive than a wax but takes much longer

Also the culprits include the reduction of melanin production and the creation of hydrogen peroxide in the follicles: http://www.loc.gov/rr/scitech/mysteries/grayhair.html

[Edited on April 17, 2011 at 11:09 AM. Reason : and yes it does affect all hair, not gonna go to a granny-porn site to check though

Around 18 or 19. My girlfriend loves them and they don't bother me. Gives me a more...distinguished look. Or something.

Then I should have a whole head of them.

I've got one or two, that I've had since I was 22ish.

I had exacty 4 gray hairs from age 20-24...

Then sometime after 25 my head exploded in them...so I started coloring my hair...

After that destroyed my hair I went back natural and now I have a solid white "skunk" streak in the very front which I strategically keep hidden...

I like my gray though....I earned it

Isn't Stacey London's streak a little different? Like a genetic defect or something?

Anywho, no gray hairs for me as of yet

Prolonged periods of stress at work, they show up all over, then the stress goes away, and they pretty much go away....it is weird....

I've been lucky so far I guess. I'm surprised grad school hasn't done me in. If I don't find a job soon, things may change.

I've always heard your grandfather on your mothers side is the best person to look at to predict your future hair state. I don't know if that's true, but he had a full head of hair his whole life. Here's hoping!
