1. Whats going on beside Dan Allen Deck, in the old Valpark lot that a tower crane was put up today?

1. They're probably starting some kind of preliminary construction on that giant development project that's going up there.

2. It's to keep the Belltower warm at night.

But it's probably minor face-lift stuff to some of the brick work?

^ They're making the ground level of Harrelson into a temporary bookstore for when they renovate/tear down (or whatever they're doing) the current bookstore, IIRC.

There's a crane in the valpark lot? Did they have to pay for like 20 parking spots at $800/spot, then an extra $3000 for priority parking privileges to move the crane? Or did they repo it and say "nah, fuck you, we're putting a crane here. Try to move it, I dare you!"

Anyone check to see if there is a tag/sticker on the crane giving it permission to park there?

bell tower restoration is beginning.

shrine room only.


once more funds from the state are available, the scaffolding will be extended all the way up until the project can be completed.

then. the tower will be restored, cleaned, remortared, repaired from water damage. the bells could be put in there too, depending on how long the whole process takes.

they are using money that they have had left over from several years ago budget. the work going on there was paid for years ago. you're right, unfortunately, that scaffolding could be there until the whole project is completed. could be a year or more.

the tower unfortunately cannot wait any longer due to potential permanent structural damage from water seepage neglected over the years. the shrine room has already began to disintegrate.

I plant to visit the US in about 5 to 10 years.

I wonder how different the universities that I attended will look then compared to when I was last there...

Anyone know when the completion date for the Stanhope Village thing is? Checked online, but could only find stories about the long process it took to get approved.

And yeah on campus right now there's the Stanhope thing, the eventual demolition of the bookstore this summer, the temporary bookstore being built on the ground floor of Harrelson, and the Belltower restoration. Campus is gonna look a lot different ~3-5 years from now with all of this and other planned projects.
