For sale: A Tonini Lamborghini tandem bicycle. I purchased from Amazon for $500. I'm asking $400.
This bike is 1/8th the cost of a good tandem like Burley or Co-Motion, and it doesn't hold a candle to them. If you know you and your riding partner will love a tandem, do not buy this bike.
If you don't know, this is the way to give it a try!
Some of the components have the Shimano logo on them. The chain is KMC. That's all I'll say about that. Bike was assembled, adjusted and wheels trued by me. Brake lever shifters operate as advertised and derailleurs shift cleanly, the brakes stop you, the seats hold you up and the tires roll true. Bike was always stored indoors (on a neat pulley system I'll sell to you also, ask for details!) Condition is near perfect, with a small tear on one side of the stoker handlebar tape. I estimate the bike has 100 miles on it, mostly in trips around the block. My wife and I enjoy riding together, just not on the same bike. Maybe I'll take the money I get from this and put a motor on her bike.
I'm 5'8", have a 31" standover and ride a 56cm bike. This cockpit was okay, but a wee bit long for me. If you are shorter than me, talk to me about modifications we can make before considering this bike. My wife is 5'8" and prefers a 52-54cm bike, the stoker seat was a bit tight for her. The bike is a one-size-fits-no-two-people, but I'll post measurements on it later.

I can fit the bike in my car, but it is a pain in the ass. I will be happy to ride it to you within west Raleigh/Cary/Apex and bus myself back, but if you are outside of that you better have a real good reason to want delivery. 4/18/2011 1:55:43 AM |

^^These tires are 700x35c. I'm not sure how you consider those the same "itty-bitty" tires as most road bikes, ie 700 x 23c. 4/18/2011 6:18:34 PM |

Measurements, as promised. The front cockpit is 18" (46cm) BB to top tube and 22" (56cm) seat post to headtube. Stoker seat is 14" BB to top tube. Front Standover is approximately 30". Top tube slopes (if that's not obvious) and the numbers do not do justice to the way it fits. The front cockpit definitely feels like a 56 by 58. 4/19/2011 12:17:00 AM |

How well does the bike ride with only one person and/or a dummy on the back? 4/23/2011 1:38:49 AM |

Rides great with one person. Soaks up the bumps, smooth ride like a limo! It's like a 29'er with enormous wheelbase! Turn radius is a bit big, I wouldn't try any really tight singletrack or crits. But you can turn around in the width of a normal neighborhood road, and if you're good, inside a one-car driveway.
A dummy could be tough. I think getting a big dummy to stay would require a bunch of duck tape. But if you could get the dummy to stay in position, I think it'd ride fine.
Alternatively, you could chop the rear and put a bed on it, like
I don't weld, so I can't help chop it. 4/23/2011 10:06:32 AM |

You're an idiot. I'm sure the seller is as clueless about the bike as you are...4/23/2011 3:09:05 PM |
