I told my friends and coworkers that I was thinking about doing the whole roller derby thing. Their reactions were all very positive and supportive such as "yea Kate you'd be totally great at that" "we'd come and see you wreck some bitches!"

this is the conversation I just had with my family
me: I was thinking about doing the whole roller derby thing once I've graduated
mother: why would anyone want to be a dyke on wheels?
father: I can punch you in the face if that's what you're looking for
brother: You're such a queer. loser.

please keep in mind my brother plays rugby. my parents support him in this. how is that any less physical?
