Spice and Curry on the corner of 54/55 is my favorite
Bombay Grille on 54 is pretty good as well
udupi is ok if you are vegetarian, but if you're a meatetarian like me, it's kind of meh.
Saffron is pretty good too, but a bit pricey.

had the pleasure of speaking with jibarra's exec chef. the guy is awesome and he basically has been fixing issues there for the past two months, but now he's got a solid crew, so if you ate at jibarra in the past(>2 months ago) and didnt like it, give it another shot soon.

Noted

And I have yet to try Jibarra (because of the bad reviews) so I'll add it back to my list.

It was still open a month ago when I went for dinner.

And Mami Noras is awesome.

I'm wary of Jibarra. Went there for Valentine's Day and it was awful, especially for what we paid. I still have a restaurant.com voucher though so maybe I'll take BettrOffDead's advice.

CHINESE:

Asian Grill - straight up the best Shanghainese cuisine in Raleigh and house made noodles

BBQ:

Cooper's - classic, total classic
Ole Time - a little less classic but still good
The Pit - for entertaining

SMALL PLATES:

Buku - a variety of world cuisines, try the seabass!
Humble Pie - the food isn't as good as Buku but the deck cannot be beat
Nofo - nom nom nom

BURGERS:

Abbey Road - delicious
Player's Retreat - you can get your burger rare and make sure you get it with chili and slaw

WINGS:

Bada Wings - hands down the tastiest wings in town

don't bother, despite the promises of the owner that were noted above.

i went to both locations (prior to moving downtown), and it's always been pure shit, no matter the staffing.

It's definitely still open. I was there last night and it was actually shockingly full.

I had to park at the auto parts place next door.

Yea some of the reviews scared me so I thought about going to Poole's but some of their reviews are kinda crap too. Either way I'm gonna end up paying a lot and probably not be full.

I ate myself sick at Poole's last night.

An entree and a side will be hard to finish and cost ~$25.

^ New owner? It's still Urban Food Group.

^^^^

they're good, but nothing that I felt really WOW'ed me. especially when I paid $15 for a burger w/fries.

I did appreciate that they serve locally raised, no hormone/antibiotic beef and all that.

Also if you're still doubting, Ashley from Poole's is going up against Bobby Flay on Iron Chef next month.

see, that is actually something I couldn't give two shits about - I don't care if they buttfuck the cows with rubber dildos, as long as the meat tastes good! well, maybe that is a little far... I'd feel bad for the cow, but honestly that whole organic kick is something that doesn't interest me at all, especially when you pay an arm and a leg for it. I do like the support of the local farmers though

Rocky Top isn't opening a Tribeca Tavern downtown, but that new Carolina Draft Burgers and Beers place would appear to be fairly similar.

so in this thread we are saying that

POOLE's DINER >>> THE DINER on Glenwood

or

POOLE's DINER >>>>>>>>>>>>>> THE DINER on Glenwood?

b/c while i love diner food, i am looking for innovation here, and while i haven't had the pleasure of dining at Poole's, THE DINER is disappointing for what could have been. But then again so is Solas and the Hibernian so I don't know why I thought it would be different....
