Yes, it did close. I think Greg Hatem is going to use it as an event space now.

And the owner of Bella Monica was partners w/ Greg Hatem in Gravy. But now he has sold his share of Gravy back to Greg Hatem. Just like what Ed Mitchell did at The Pit.

I ate at Azitra last night and OMG, so good. I also ate at Sitti last week and it was awesome as usual.

Its a little on the pricier side when compared to other Indian restaurants in town but the quality is so much better.

Its easily one of my top restaurants in Raleigh

VDH killed their burger menu?? Heresy!
I would say I'd stop going there, but I live in Durham so I don't go there anymore anyway. But it does make me sad. Watched a lot of football, ate a lot of burgers, drank a lot of beer there '02ish to '06ish.

Call me boring but my favorite restaurant in Raleigh would probably be either Porter's or 518 West, but there are many other quality choices as well. +1 to the votes for Red Dragon for best Chinese--haven't been there in quite some time but it was always killer when I did go. Keep meaning to try CC16 and Poole's, and if I ever find myself with some money to burn, Second Empire.

I went there the other day for lunch with work folks, and i was astonished to see the cut down burger menu... my standby, The El Paso Burger, was nowhere to be found.

new place that rules: Brookside Market & Deli! great cheap Mediterranean food in Oakwood! and nicest guy ever. it's actually just a convenience store with a small little kitchen area. go there.

Speaking of Oakwood, whatever happened to the Italian market that used to be there, down the street a bit from Krispy Kreme? Their deli food looked like it would be amazing, though I never actually had any of it (only made it there twice).

There is no way that Raleigh Times has better burgers than Tribeca Tavern. No way. I like Raleigh Times but the burgers are not the highlight of their menu. Now their BBQ nachos and French salad on the other hand

^ Pretty boring place from what I recall, but it's also been years since I went.

Tribeca Tavern's burgers are pre-fab burgers. And if they're not they do a pretty darn good job of pretending to.

i disagree....

their burgers are some of the best burgers I've had in Raleigh... a little pricey for what they are, but still good. And if you mean "pre-fab" in that they grind the meat and make the burgers a couple hours before they cook them, then yeah, I can see that

Huh? Don't they mention them towards/at the top of the menu. apparently they've won some awards for it too. i'll admit it's not the end all be all (not a ruckus reference), but its pretty damn good.

It's hilarious to me that people are seriously suggesting MoJoe's as the best burger in Raleigh...it's not even the best burger on Glenwood South.

[Edited on August 10, 2011 at 1:20 PM. Reason : Unless overcooked burgers with mediocre toppings and frozen fries are your thing]

Just because something's at the top of a menu doesn't mean they're the best at making it

And that "award" they won for their burger I heard was just a publicity move by Empire Eat's marketing team. They'd be hard pressed to win Best Burger in the Triangle when there's such heavy competition.

I'm not sure what he means by that either. They're one of the few places around that grinds their own meat.

Char Grill has also "won awards" for their burgers. And while I enjoy some Char-Grill on occasions they're nowhere close to a "best burger"

^^^how many times have you eaten at tribeca... the ingredients are as fresh as possible, and all the meat (turkey, beef, etc) is in house ground- the place was a finalist for top burger in wake county-

Like I said, I don't know if they are worth 15+ bucks a pop (no burger is really), but they are some of the best tasting burgers I have ever had- from a restaurant that is

backyard bistro

their burgers are great and you can get them cooked anyway you want since they grind their own meat (or rather angus barn does and that's where they get the meat from).

What? Keep your strawmen to yourself. Where did I say it's the best? As I've said, it's damn good, but not the best.

It's highlighted at the top of the menu, along with the nachos

Yeah that's what I meant. I could give two shits what a restaurants says is their specialty or highlight dish. Seems like half the time it just means it has a higher profit margin for them and is not necessarily their best item.

I cannot comment on the Cary location, never having been there. However, the Greensboro location is one of my favorite restaurants in GSO. Great food (I'd call the concept fresh/upscale southern) and they try to keep it seasonal.

AHA, I remember Lucky 32 from well over a decade ago.

I was never a predictable eater, and I don't really like chicken.

But they had these chicken thingies with three sauces that were amazing! I'm sure I looked like a child, but damn, those sauces were good, yo!

Bad timing.

Can't say I was really bowled over by the food, tho. I can't even remember what we ate. :-/

Yeah, my thing was basically a chicken tenders app. And it was awesome! I swear!

I went again recently, and I can't recall what I got then either.
