anyone can scream a song, and I myself could probably scream the chorus to SLTS

but the strength and tone of Kurt's screaming are what put him above other screamers

Cobain was a pretty mediocre guitarist, he wasn't a drummer, and as far as being a vocalist goes, there were and are plenty better, including Grohl.

Kurt Cobain was probably the least talented musician in Nirvana, however, he was the only one at the time that could propel that band into notoriety as a frontman. Grohl figured out that part well after Nirvana was done. Novoselic hasn't really found success after Nirvana, but was a damn good grunge bassist.

That said, Cobain will forever be the most influential member of that band. Grohl and The Foo Fighters can make all the albums they want and the overall influence on music will never touch Nevermind or In Utero.

Grohl rips it the fuck up on Monkey Wrench. I wouldn't say either of them can sing for shit, but they are both decent vocalists. I just like Grohl a touch more because he does have a grasp of melody occasionally.

Yeah, but the contention here I think is if screaming can ever be done "well".

But I will concede, even though I think "screaming" has no place in tasteful music, Cobain never bothered me, but Grohl annoys the fuck out of me when he screams.

yeah I have no idea where this grohl is a great singer stuff is coming from, vocals were the obvious weakness of his band which was already overrated, I'd say out of any of the legitimate hard rock radio bands grohl's voice was prob the worst, even below billy corgan, he sounds like he has to scream to get any memorable sound out of his voice where as kurt used it more legitimately, the guitarist argument I don't know; you aren't really going to get great technical players at that genre of music anyway
