whats with this trend of nerds wearing vibram fivefingers? those shoes may be appropriate if you are running, but any other time they look ridiculous. and really, do you expect me to believe that some pudgy neck-bearded fuck is spending his free time jogging? i don't think so.

what if you're neither a pudgy neck-bearded fuck nor a jogger? what if you're a fit, clean-shaven fuck who wears them when backpacking?

while backpacking? acceptable
while sitting somewhere, drinking your favorite fair trade coffee and discussing trail names for when you make it to the appalachian trail? not acceptable

i don't use a trail name on the at but i do wear my vffs out an about occasionally. Fumbler does it more often. they're not as comfortable for just walking on hard surfaces/standing around as they are for running/hiking to me. i'm really liking the merrell pace glove right now though.

well, there is no cool way to wear them, but that might not make you a nerd.

you could also just be a dork.

but that's because you can't grow enough facial hair to have a neck beard

Biofreak wants to wear them around Kaplan while throwing hippy discs. Sounds acceptable to me. though you'll still be a dork

well don't worry about your footwear, there is no cool way to work in a flowerbed

gardening for vegetables might not be nerdy though, just hipster

I wear mine running only. I wore them once to play ultimate, and after slipping a few times, I cussed and put my cleats back on. I wore them once to play disc golf. Terrible experience.

I bought my KSOs last summer. Great for working out at the gym. Feels good to be a trendsetter.

I wear mine when trail running. I'd get a pair to wear casually but I don't want to wear out the bottoms that quickly. I asked about wearing them while playing frisbee but was told they don't handle sheering well that I'd be better off just playing barefoot.

I am not surprised a thread about nerds and neck-beards contains multiple references to frisbee-related activities

I love the kids who wear them to Ultimate b/c they THINK it makes them play better. I saw one guy done up a Patagonia jersey and shorts with Vibrams, I assume he bought from a grab bag at a yard sale (The whole outfit minus the shoes was Stanford Bloodthirsty-and this is in Jacksonville, FL) and he was about as athletic Louis Anderson.

Hmm. I wore mine today, but only because I've been wearing sandals lately and I got a wicked cramp in my foot last night that reminded me my feet aren't as strong as they should be.

way to be judgmental bro

[Edited on April 27, 2011 at 6:58 PM. Reason : I play soccer, my feets 'posed to be strong.]

I actually saw a rather chubby guy jogging around Lake Johnson in these less than an hour ago. I didn't pay attention to whether or not he was rocking the neck beard.

The only reason I thought twice when I saw him is that I was thinking how I'd never give up the cushioning of my 993s on asphalt.

Funny you should mention, one of the few memories I have of one of my in-laws was from the early 90s when she was telling everyone how big DMB was going be.

Another time when I was older, she took me to Best Buy so I could buy R.E.M.'s 'Monster.' Good album. I also played Shaq Fu on one of the demo consoles. Bad game.

wat

sandals (flipflops) destroy your feet

walking barefoot or in vibrams stretches muscles and tendons that dont otherwise get used

i dont even know why I'm bothering justifying this to you, you're just trolling

I've got three different pairs of KSOs that I rotate through at the gym. I bought my first pair for let training specifically, but after a couple of months they quickly became the only thing I trained in.

The first time I ever saw them I immediately thought of Married With Children's episode "God's Shoes" where Al Bundy develops the perfect shoe after 40 days and 40 nights.

I have only seen two people wearing them so far - and one of them was a really hot chick I wanted to bwn so I only have good associative thoughts about them.

Although they are absolutely re-fucking-diculous. Although that one chick could definitely still get it.
