Making a cold sandwich with veggies on it for lunch?

Making a hot sandwich for dinner?

Any and all sandwiches are up for discussion on how to best place items for maximum texture/taste combination!

First case:
The last two days I have tried to strategically place my tomatoes on a wheat sandwich with turkey, spinach, cheese and mayo... both days my cheese has somehow become really weird and gooey (not fun).

Arrangements tried:
Bread/mayo/spinach/tomatoes/cheese/turkey/mayo/bread
Bread/mayo/spinach/tomatoes/turkey/cheese/mayo/bread

genius is going to not put mayo on both sides of sammich next time and use better cheese. Kraft American singles should only be used when broke and making a grilled cheese.

Go T-Dub Go!

Lettuce on the bottom to prevent juices making the bread soggy.

I put tomatoes in the middle of the sandwich with the meat; the mayo, spinach, cheese, et. al. keep it from getting the bread soggy.

Lately I've been putting pickle spears on my sandwich and I'm loving it. The issue comes with the pickle wanting to slide out the side when I squeeze the sandwich in anticipation of a bite. To combat this, I've been layering the deli meat in a concave arrangement so that the pickle has a natural bed and isn't forced to either side by centrifugal force. It's an ideal arrangement thus far.

Does anyone have experience slicing their own meat? I've grown tired of the shoddy meats sold by most grocers. I haven't had a decent sandwich in 13 years.

get your meat freshly sliced at a deli. then you can tell them if you want it shaved thin or thicker slices. plus it's fresher and doesn't have that wet/soggy feel like prepackaged deli meats.

as far as tomatoes, i try to keep them seperate from my sandwich until i'm ready to eat. even if it's shielded by pieces of lettuce and other stuff tomatoes find a way to make everything soggy.

I'm offended you would think of me as someone who would buy prepackaged deli meats.

Never in my life.

Might as well eat fucking lunchables.

I tend to construct at time of consumption. Just bring all the components separately (or at least the tomatoes), and this problem will be solved.

yeah prepacked meats are slimy. that was the word i was looking for.

sometimes i just pass on bread and take the bag of cold cuts and line my pockets. then i can reach in and grab slices throughout the day. it also keeps my hands moist.

The best sandwich in existence is:

sandwich thin - Duke's mayo - tomato - tomato - Duke's mayo - sandwich thin

Never put crunchy stuff (chips, bacon, etc) next to bread. If you do, you increase the change that razor sharp jagged pieces of chip will cut the roof of your mouth.

I try to limit the spread count to two (sometimes three) so that each slice of bread has a different spread. Spreads include: mayo, miracle whip, mustard, ranch, thousand islands, honey mustard, etc.

I agree that slippery ingredients should not be in contact with one another.

Never make a sandwich (except for PB&J) a full night before you plan to consume it. Always eat a sandwich within two hours of making it.

When toasting an sandwich, never expose vegetables to direct heating. Meat, bacon, or cheese should be used as a buffer.

Never combine the ends of the loaf with good ingredients.

the sogginess is avoidable by being better at spreading duke's on bread. practice your butter knife skillz. and if its too much bread, use more tomatoes!

lol. ok. to be fair, I used to eat them on white bread all the time, but sandwich thins have been my staple for the past year. I've probably just grown accustomed to them.

and as an addition, homemade biscuits are also an acceptable substitute.
