I get that he apparently didn't do that. BEFORE he was even arrested / on trial. Why did you guys care so much?

its not likely that a retrial would occur unless there was something that the jury should/should not have considered when it reached it's verdict

the court can overturn the verdict if it finds no reasonable jury should convict with what evidence was before them

It's a big deal because the Cary Police Dept. singled out this dude from the beginning with no evidence and then ignored a shitton of evidence that may have proved his innocence. What little evidence they managed to collect is highly suspect and likely was tampered with/planted. Then the prosecutor and judge managed to suppress several key witnesses for the defense that likely would have shown how suspect that little bit of evidence was.

Somehow through all of that, if the jury had been comprised of reasonable people, they still should have found him innocent based on the complete lack of physical evidence.

Complete injustice all the way around. The guy got fucked from square one. He shouldn't have cooperated with the investigation, he should have cleared his bank accounts and sat his ass on a beach in Mexico. It is absolutely unbelievable how bad this guy got screwed and I hope to god that noone I know turns up dead.

^god damn was that so hard?

thats all i needed the FIRST time i asked, although someone basically already said that in the other thread. Good reason not to live in cary. Somebody died? oh i don't need to see evidence they're guilty.

That trial was such a miscarriage of justice. The state has such an overwhelming advantage in terms of resources, juries today pretty much start off with the incorrect mindset (not innocent until proven guilty, but rather that the defendant must have done something to even be on trial), and then there's stuff like this:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/29/in-some-states-crime-labs_n_3837471.html?utm_hp_ref=the-agitator

and lots and lots of examples of evidence suppression, non-disclosure, and prosecutorial immunity so that there is no reason not to cheat and lie in an attempt to convict.

I hope that Cooper goes free and the jury actually pays attention instead of asking for everyone to wrap it up because they're tired.

So because our criminal justice system isn't perfect, Brad Cooper must be innocent.

Brilliant logic there brah.

"No date was set for the retrial of Brad Cooper in the July 2008 death of his wife, Nancy Cooper. His 2011 conviction was overturned on appeal, and his new attorneys couldn't estimate how long it will take to review the case file. Prosecutors said they offered a plea deal to Cooper before his first trial and are willing to do so again.
