So I find out today visiting one of my standing "groups" on facebook, that fb is getting rid of the old style of groups, and changing them removing half the features they were created for.

Ya I could create a "page" but that goes against half of why I made a group in the first place. Hell Id appreciate if they converted groups to pages, as thats really what most of the original groups were, until they made pages. Now "groups" are just that, chat, get-together, social etc. Not stupid crazy college stuff.

I guess to me, this is the last bit of the college facebook I knew and liked when I first joined facebook. Ive been debating for some time turning my account off, only to keep it for photos, chatting with old friends, and events. Maybe its just me getting old.

^^ I know but then again Im still waiting to see Facebook either sold or put on the stock market. Right now they aren't doing much and personally from a financial point screwing themselves. Add in the privacy issues, Google, all the ad blocking stuff, and the soon to be dont track me web add-ins... Doesnt sound good for them.

I dont know if it was zuckerberg's brain juice or just serendipity, but he basically built up a huge social network of people and then (almost strategically?) turned it into a forum similar to things like our very own TWW. And this has turned into a brilliant strategy, because now basically everyone of this generation gets their news from facebook. This is similar to how a lot of people at State get their news from TWW, but obviously it is much bigger.

As much as I get sick of hearing about facebook and zuckerfuck's "rags to riches" story, he sure did play his cards right. Good job amigo.

ehh yea I agree, the groups were nice. But they claim it completly cluttered facebook pages, and 99% of the groups were considered inactive - they just sat there...

I have thought that before......TWW was started way before facebook. Jacob Morgan could have been Mark Zuckerberg. A billionaire and FB could have come from state.
