depends on the vet, age of the dog, & if you use vouchers

i've heard anywhere from $70 - 350.

OOO vouchers!?!? Please to explain. I'm a first time dog owner so I'm trying to do as much research as possible before I pick her up!

check with your vet too. a lot of times they'll have clinic days/weeks when it's cheaper. also, some vets have a package deal w/ spay + vaccinations.

is it still a pup because if so at pet smart you can pay 120 or so upfront and 23 dollars a month for the rest of the year and that includes all the shots you will need, different medicine, and for it to be spayed or neutered.

there's a lot of hate for banfield...not sure why, i think it's a pretty good deal for the first year (not after, though) as long as you don't qualify for one of the coupons/whatever

^^that might not be the best deal. I know the shots + spay package deal at my vet is $230, so just make sure you shop around.

Honestly, go to one of the humane societies or clinics. If you can afford more, give them a donation. Those vets do spays and neuters all day long and are way better at it because of that.

Pliers, ice, and doggy treats.

Or just wait for one of the spay-your-animal campaign buses.

spaying is a lot easier than neutering, so doing it yourself is definitely an option

i didn't actually READ your post before responding

back when i got my dog, it was $80 up front (first month) and $17/month for 11 months for a total of around $270...at the time, it was the best deal i could find

i suppose their prices have gone up...also, raleigh/cary is ridiculous in regards to cost for veterinary care...driving 30 minutes from raleigh will save you 70% (in my experience)...we take our dogs to the vet twice a year (and only twice because the need bordetella vacc every 6 months for day camp), so it's really not a big deal
