Elba Island is the only place for a true Monte Cristo sandwich.

You could probably find the filling at most public libraries.

Does Bennigan's still exist?

Note: please do not construe this as a recommendation that you eat at Bennigan's.

It's more like French toast with out the sugar with ham, turkey and cheese melted. It's typically a brunch item. Syrups or jams are put on the side for dipping the sandwich in.

My favorite Monte also brings in dipping the egg soaked bread in cornflakes so the sandwich is more crispy/crunchy

I hope more than that did...because it wasn't even funny to begin with.
