Please to list restaurants/cafes/etc you know are down with polite dogs in their outdoor dining areas. Now that it's getting warm out we can take advantage Let's also list places we know don't want dogs in their outdoor dining areas. That's important to know too
Dog friendly places I know:
-Raleigh Times -Flying Saucer -Farmer's Market Restaurant -the fish house at the farmer's market -Third Place -Lily's Pizza -La Brea -J.Betski -Jibarra -Morning Times -Chubby's by Rex Hospital -MoJoe's -Ruckus

^^ You used to be allowed to do that in NC if the owner was cool with it but our health department is run by a bunch of Nazis. I hear that some restaurants just ignore the new rules though, especially out in Asheville.
^ Does Sadlack's allow dogs too? I forget.

This, like most stupid things people want laws against, comes back to simple adult free will and responsibility. If you have allergies or don't want to deal with dog fur, then don't go to restaurants that allow dogs. Amazing how simple that is.5/22/2011 12:26:46 PM |

Food is amazing there. Everything is $10 or less on the menu. My favorites are the "which came first" salad (add blue cheese and avocado with balsamic dressing), the Mac and Cheese, the crab dip, the quesadillas, the black bean burger, and the spinach dip. The seasonal potato soup is great too.5/22/2011 2:01:55 PM |

Huh? I don't care about outside. Inside is what I care about.

So that means everyone should post answers that you agree with? I'm sorry if you disagree with my opinion, but the fact that dogs shed, leave dander in the air that irritates other people's sinuses is reason enough to ban them from being inside restaurants. Not to mention one owner's definition of "well-behaved" typically doesn't coincide with other people's definition of "well-behaved," meaning that if you have a friendly dog who loves to go around saying hello to everyone, people are likely to get annoyed at that as they really want your dog to leave them alone...
Quote : | "This, like most stupid things people want laws against, comes back to simple adult free will and responsibility. If you have allergies or don't want to deal with dog fur, then don't go to restaurants that allow dogs. Amazing how simple that is." |
How will patrons know if a restaurant allows dogs or doesn't allow dogs inside of its establishment
Second, the sanitation of allowing dogs inside of a restaurant is a concern. Do you own a dog? If so, how much luck do you have at keeping your dog hair free? I'll bet you aren't very successful no matter how much you try. Now you want restaurants to allow dogs into their restaurants where sanitation is important? Sorry, it's not going to happen. Nobody enjoys chowing down on some marinated hairballs.
It's amazing how people think they are entitled to be assholes and infringe on other people's enjoyment...
How about we allow nudity, smoking and pets in restaurants so nobody enjoys anything? The nudist who hates dogs can be pissed off while he pisses off the smoker who hates fat ugly naked men while the smoker pisses the pet owner off... After all, free will and all that other bullshit people like to refer to because they think they should be entitled to infringe on other people's enjoyment...5/22/2011 5:23:23 PM |

The original post/conversation (outside of Sorostitute's comment) is about dogs being allowed in outside seating areas of restaurants, not inside.
But if you wanna troll this conversation into being about dogs being inside restaurants have your fun (despite the fact that this is a lounge thread, and not chit chat, where you normally troll)]5/22/2011 7:42:45 PM |

You obviously don't know what a troll is. She made a comment about the health department being a bunch of Nazis. I made a blunt comment calling her out on her lack of understanding about the health code... How you're construing that to be trolling is beyond my understanding, but then again, you are synapse...
But you obviously have no intention to contribute to any discussion, which is the norm for you, so I will just ignore from this point on. 5/22/2011 8:01:48 PM |

Pretty much this.
For the record... I don't really have a big problem with dogs outside. I just think it's funny how the kind of dog owners that absolutely must take their dog to a restaurant pretend like there's never been a dog acting up in a restaurant.
^Then they serve merbig's meal without washing their hands first.

^^ I think there's a fine line. I have definitely seen dogs that act like little assholes in public. But there are plenty of people who work hard on training their dogs to be well-behaved. To me a well behaved down (in public) is one that doesn't poop/pee where it shouldn't, doesn't bark and doesn't bother other people (unless they solicit it). If you can bring a dog to a restaurant (for outdoor seating) and they behave as such there shouldn't be an issue.
I've found that bars that allow dogs inside are pretty cool and fun places to go b/c usually they have a bit of a reputation for allowing as much and thus the people that are there don't mind being around animals. Of course this is only legal at bars that do not serve food and off the top of my head I don't think there are any establishments like this in Raleigh. 5/23/2011 10:06:48 AM |
