Post here your stories about your first period!

Mine was in sixth grade, a boy in class told me the back of my pants were red

Mine was while I was babysitting the neighbor's kids. And I thought if you moved too much, it would spill out.

Most of my friends were older than me....and sister is 10tears older. So, I wad anxiously waiting for mine to come. I was so proud when it did and felt like a real woman. That was the only time I've been happy about my period.(thankfully no pregnancy scares yet).

It was awful. Not my period, but my mother's reaction to it. She was so mad because she had to drive 10 miles back into town to buy me pads because all she had in the house were tampons. It was so humiliating because rather than getting the embarrassing "my little girl is a woman" speech, I got yelled at.

Swim meet, 7th grade. Not fun when you're in a skimpy bathing suit.

CONFESSION. I was a late bloomer and mine didn't start until 9th grade. I felt like a loser since all my friends already had theirs so I faked it. I wore huge pads and complained about cramps.

7th grade. It was an away basketball game (I was on the girl's jv team), and realized something was different during halftime. I was freaked and embarrassed.

I was somewhat of a late bloomer, I think. I was 14. I was at basketball practice and I was hurting something fierce down there. I went to the bathroom and there was a mess in my panties.

I remember the next day, not really knowing what to do. I wore a pad...some nike wind breaker pants with my favorite football jersey, Junior Seau-San Diego Chargers. I was so mortified because it was a white jersey. Luckily, no one noticed and I got the blood out of that white jersey. Basketball practice was just strange.

I wish I could have filmed my face when my mom described how a tampon worked

I was like "you put WHAT IN THE WHERE??? "

and I totally thought you wore them all the time

MY FIRST EVER WAS HERE IN NC! I knew there were bad vibes before we actually decided to move here

I was a raging lunatic and fought with my brother as well as all 3 of my cousins that we were visiting.

OK HERE IT IS. don't judge me.

when i first got my period in 7th grade. on the bus. in white jean shorts. then i went home to tell my mom

but she was napping

and i was going to wake her up and like poked her twice but she was really asleep and then i lost my courage and got all embarrassed because my mom was the type to way overreact over stuff like that (like shaving legs, everything she'd like cry and be like "awww my little girl" or whatever)

so for my first couple of periods......deep breath.....prepare yourselves......i wore a makeshift pad of like 6 pairs of underwear on top of each other. then when it was over i would hide the underwear diapers under my bed.

things i have always wondered: 1) how did i have so much underwear? 2) was my mom ever like...why am i buying this girl so much underwear?!

anyways, my mom ended up finding out i had started my period because she was cleaning my room and found the underwear diapers under my bed. so then i got pads like a normal human being.

she even tried to wash the underwear diapers. i mean....that is love. haha.

I still do this during most of my periods.

and khcadwal, it can't be more embarrassing than faking your period.

hahahaha i know. it was so pathetic and disgusting and it seems so stupid now looking back on it. why was it so scary to tell my mom?! it was like the most terrifying thing ever.

then after i started my period, when i got to high school, i had no hesitation to tell ANYONE i was on my period. including my father who def made his fair share of trips for tampons and midol. hehe.

white jeans in 9th grade...horrid. I was "dating" a senior at that time and I thought he was going to dump me for it but he didn't care. Anyway, I leaked through in first period...hahaha, period....and had to walk through the whole day with those white period soaked jeans on.

Never have worn white jeans since. Just too traumatized from the embarrassment.

Is every Dad that cool about buying period stuff? My sisters and I always made him go, and he'd come back with like a Sam's Club sized box. We were always too embarrassed to buy tampons or pads. Why is that?

I only told my Mom after she said she was going to call a doctor and make an appointment to see if something was wrong with me. My period had started the day before this conversation and then she yelled at me and said I was lying.

I was 16

I have hormonal issues. I got hair at the normal time, (about 12) but nothing else! Eventually my mom realized something was wrong and I went to an endocrinologist who started me on hormones when I was maybe 15. A year later they switched me to a different kind that give you periods. I just started taking the white pills and then I got my period. So no surprises there! I don't even remember the first one

Were all of you ladies aware of what a period was? My mom told me, but my aunt didn't tell my cousin.

When I finally told my cousin I got mine she was like, "No fair! Your mom warned you!? When it happened to me I had no idea and I thought I was DYING!!!"

A good Dad doesn't feel a threat to his masculinity by merely being in the "feminine hygiene" section.

the worst part (ok the diapers were the worst part, but another bad part) about mine was the day it started (the day of the nap and the creation of the underwear diapers) i woke up feeling not good. and my mom was like, "i bet you are starting your period" and i was all "GRRR RAWR NO I AM NOT I HATE YOU" (ok maybe not that bad, but bad)

then she was right

DAMMIT, mom!

and i was also scared to buy tampons and pads. and then condoms. now i have gotten over pretty much all fears. i have no idea why i was scared of any of that stuff haha.

Awwww khcadwal! I went through the same thing! Too afraid to tell my mom, she didn't find out for 3 months, until she found my bed sheets. I had bled during the night and instead of washing them I colored it in with a sharpe to make it look like a pony.... It was one sad looking animal.

I also wore Depends because I could get them from grandmas and I thought they were what women used

My dad kept track of my mom's and my periods. Yep...that's right. My dad!

He tracked em for my mom when they were baby planning when they got married, and just kept at it. He did all the grocery shopping, so he used it to know when to buy more tampons or pads. I never bought my own until college about a week before I should start, he would ask if I needed any. That was that, lol

omg kadwhackle your story had me ROLLING you are so freakin hilarious!!!

mine was a pretty good experience. i knew what a period was long before it showed up because my mom would tell me to GTFO when i tried to open the bathroom door to talk to her sometimes. she explained she was on her period (and taking care of business) and i was like OMG that is SO COOL i can't wait for mine to start.

it was seriously an event for me, i was literally looking forward to it. lucky for me it happened when i was at home and funny enough i think it was on valentines day of all days. i knew exactly what to do because my mom showed me due to all my curiosity and interest (weird, right?)

so i went into the bathroom, procured a pad and went on with my day. my mom was out of town and i called her and told her it happened and i was pretty much on cloud 9 after that

its been all down hill since then
