Seriously, check out the shelters if you don't care if they have papers or anything. A good percentage of the dogs in there are pit/lab mixes.

my mom has a pit/lab mix... she volunteers at the spca and also fosters dogs... she fostered him when he was a young pup but then the idiot couple who adopted him brought him back saying he was "too much work" (he's one of the most well behaved dogs i've ever seen)... so my mom asked if she could adopt him and they let her!

The shelters have a ton of lab/pit mix puppies and adults. Especially the Orange County one, since they don't euthanize pits or pit mixes just because they are pits.

I let a girl pick it out but I love him - he got in a fight with a housecat when he was a puppy and had to get a prescription for an antibiotic for his eye scratch, and I religiously applied it every day for his full recovery - he has been totally mine ever since
