So that little panel under my laptop that protects stuff (the motherboard and stuff I guess? I dunno about this sort of thing.) had the part where it screws in break and now it keeps on coming off. Unfortunately, I'm an idiot and didn't take enough care to duct tape it down or something, and it popped off the other day, and then my belt buckle smashed into it. Now my computer won't turn on at all.

Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with it and if it is something that I can maybe fix myself? Thanks.

Yes, that's basically the conclusion I have come to.

So I can get like an enclosure and hook up my hard drive to another computer and get the data off, right?

Is that pretty easy or should I get someone who knows what they are doing?

To do that, you would have to open up another computer, find a SATA cable, and connect the laptop hard drive to that motherboard. Then, your hard drive would show up on that computer as if it were an external drive.

Alternatively, look into getting a SATA to USB cable. This would let you do the operation externally.

Depending on which panel popped off, you might have just fux0red the RAM, in which case you just need new RAM.
