Man killed helping ducklings off interstate

Edward Gardner, 38, was hit by a limousine at 9:30 a.m. while attempting to save the ducklings near the O'Hare Oasis around Schiller Park, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. State police Sgt. Nick Hasan said Gardner and a female companion were traveling northbound when Gardner saw the ducks trying to cross the interstate. Gardner stopped the vehicle on the right shoulder and got out on the road to try and help when the limousine hit him. Paramedics rushed Gardner to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. He was pronounced dead at 1:24 p.m. The case is under investigation by authorities, but no tickets were issued to the limousine driver. "

I've found up north they seem to call most car service "limousines" so might have just been like a lincoln town car or something.

I though they were crazy when they said they were calling a limo to take me to the airport.

this happened to my great uncle (grandmother's brother)

was hit and killed saving a cat off of the side of the road

weirdly enough, he was also killed in Illinois (i believe - happened before i was born)

^ more like the someone-who-values-their-life viewpoint. I don't know much about the "Tri-State Tollway" but it sounds heavily trafficked. Imagine some asshole on the beltline playing leap-frog in the middle of the road. If you could bring that guy back to life I bet he'd tell you that next time he would either shrug and say "fuck it", or call the police and alert them. No, fuck that, he endagered peoples lives...Im glad he's dead. I feel more sorry for the people that had to clean him up, and the forever-scared limousine driver. On a side note, they kept him alive for 4 hours, bravo modern technology.

I've helped a few turtles across the road in my day. Mostly of the box variety, but one (exciting) time it was an alligator turtle.
