I know a lot of people who are adopted or have adopted. I think it's more common than a lot of people realize, but it's a private family matter that isn't public knowledge.

I heard adoption is expensive and you have to fill out a bunch of paperwork. Its a lot more to fuck and see what happens, imo.

If you adopt, you miss out on the whole 9 month pregnancy experience... Experiencing that part of nature/life is important to a lot of people.

Oh and I'm sure its also because it's easier to have your own kid (assuming you are capable) than going through a child adoption process. My aunt had a helluva time adopting her two children, but then again, I understand YMMV.

I always wanted to adopt. Its a win win. If the kid is a success its due to outstanding parenting. If the kid is a fuckup, its all the fault of genetics.

Unfortunately, it's not easy to adopt a child...

Some countries have specific rules about the parent, some being they have to be under a certain BMI... and in our own country it's hard to adopt a kid.

Not necessarily. Could be a false/fake story, but a co-worker of mine told me about this story about this girl who gave a guy a blow job, didn't swallow, ran to the bathroom, and stuffed his juices inside her. She got preggers and now has him paying child support. Could somone verify this story or is my co-worker an idiot?

Perhaps it's the tangible persistence of one's DNA. Complete with the combined positives and negatives accumulated throughout hundreds or thousands of years of procreation.

Also it sounds better to me than taking over the development of someones failed abortion.

I wouldn't be opposed to adopting but I've always wanted a child or two of my own. How does anyone think that "doesn't make sense?"

I just need to get on finding a girl who shares that view

I hear this a lot but it's only a couple thousand through a foster home. Even private agencies are only between $5-40k (info from adoption.com) Delivery of a baby alone is around $8k.

I guess I will never understand a woman's desire to have a little thing squirming around in their belly. As a man, I wouldn't want to see my wife go through pregnancy and childbirth.

Yeah but mothers claim that childbirth is the worst pain imaginable. How could the adoption process be worse?

well..

without getting personal....

someone recently showed back up in my family who actually was adopted to another family basically at birth and with the information age tracked down his mother and now is after his piece of her money

I guess you can't escape your douchebag family. There's something to be said for DNA. fuckers

It can be much worse because you can be promised a child, then the country could put all adoptions on hold for 2 years, then you might be able to adopt somewhere else, and find out you're not "qualified" (even if you have a professional degree and clean record)

They need to totally redo the adoption system, imo

Probably because they have to pay foster parents to take care of the children

then pay people to do paperwork, etc... though I think it could be cheaper

Also, I hate to say it, but... some people don't feel a child that didn't come from a pregnancy they created is truly "theirs."

In regards to your price range, I've never heard of an adoption only costing $5... and to say $5-40 is a crazy big range. I have always heard $30-40 (at least).

I think one thing that blew my mind were the people who were willing to pay $Texas on multiple rounds of IVF, but wouldn't adopt.

It's not even that much. Most expenses are paid when you adopt through the social services. For various inspections and stuff, we have probably paid a few hundred all told for our boys thus far and we get a monthly stipend for their expenses. It definitely is a pain in the ass to go through the bureaucracy though. Took us about 2 years from the time we started until we had a placement.

Private adoptions are definitely $texas, though, especially if you go out of country. Alot of countries actually view adopted children as a revenue source.

Hell, even my uncle who adopted a son tells me I am the only true male heir to my family name. (in patriarchal terms anyways. )

course he loves his adopted son...who now has a baby of his own. so two generations actually outside of the family.

didn't think about that til just now. neat.

There is a lot that you cannot control (like environmental exposures) when you adopt. There are a lot of children in the system that are the products of poor prenatal care, drugs, alcohol, and other fetal detriments. Some people do not feel prepared to handle all of that and feel that they can at least control that much with their own pregnancy.

I am adopted and it kind of sucks ass. I know that everyone in my family loves me unconditionally and i love them the same, but there is always this feeling -not that i don't belong but- maybe there is somewhere else that i should be. I think my family (and the second family i had at school) provided me with a pretty strong sense of community and simultaneously a sense of independence and if i hadn't i would've rather had been aborted. Fuck going through the foster system and fuck being raised in families where siblings/extended family don't care about you. I know a few people who go through that and it bleeds into every aspect of their being.

Long story short:

I'm adopted, and i'm very in favor of abortion. Not because i wish i was dead or anything, (i don't because i'm the shit and it would suck ass for y'all if i wasn't here) but other people have shitty ass lives and get trapped in the same cycle as their parents.

I'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.

I can't believe it costs that much money to adopt (on top of what it costs to raise a child) but then again the adoption agencies have to have money to function....raising a kid from birth to 18 is close to $250,000 on average I think
