i'm not worried about my 401k. i have a looong loooong time before i retire. in fact i'm thinking of bumping up my contribution. right now is the time to buy. the stock market will rebound.

increasing your contributions is usually always a good idea but it's certainly questionable right now.

In most 401k's you only really have 3 options.

Stock mutual funds, bond mutual funds, money markets funds.

Stocks: Yikes, way overpriced and stock fund managers have a pretty awful track record.

Bonds: Yikes, terrible yields, credit crunch, possible forced redemptions, and possible hyperinflation coming soon

Money markets: Yielding 0%, most are invested highly inappropriately in European debt, facing an epic credit crunch.
