Where Village Kabob used to be across the street from Peace Street Market. Didn't notice Village Kabob had even closed, apparently Mr. Pizza just opened on Monday.

Anyway, I stopped by today. Good stuff (NY style) at good prices. They have this deal like Two Guys on Hillsborough where you get two slices and a drink, $4.99. Slices are huge and it's tasty. Not the best pizza I've ever had but it's certainly better than most chain places and a lot of the indies around here. Really nice folk, he gave me a (HUGE) garlic knot for free just because he saw I had my eye on them and couldn't make up my mind between two slices or one and a knot They're open to input too, if you're a pizza-pie expert.

I hope that Mellow Mushroom being a block away won't sink their chances, but Mr. Pizza seems to try to fill a different niche. Pizza by the slice that you order at the counter and seat yourself. Tons of outdoor seating too. No beer yet though.

Anyway, give it a shot.

It was an Afghan place not too long ago.

Afghanistan-->Mediterranean-->Italy

Their westward expansion cannot be stopped.

I heard that the Afghan place relocated to walled compound in Pakistan once word got out about them.

theyll give free garlic knots out for awhile i imagine to get people sucked in, they did it with us as well

pizza was horrible though undercooked because they use solid metal pans underneath, but they have eggplant which alot of places dont

the pizza i had was cooked well...that perfect crispiness to the outside. the bottom had that rough texture like a stone oven, maybe they ditched the metal pans?
