It seems like bible thumpers wouldn't be so scared of being murdered. These same people feel like they have to have a gun to protect their family from being killed. Wouldn't your child being killed be a good thing for them, since they will be in heaven early?

People always say "she was a good christian and didn't deserve to die this is the worst thing that has ever happened".

These same people that think they are going to heaven for certain are the quickest to go look for revenge after someone is murdered.

Because evolution has seen it fit to make us avoid death and seek out procreation.

I personally am afraid of death but at the same time fascinated by it. Dying scares me for obvious reasons such as it could happen any time, I want to accomplish all my goals in life, etc. Then sometimes I'll find myself just pondering all the possibilities that lay on "the other side" that none of us will ever know. Is it nothingness? Would you be aware you were actually in Heaven or is it something we would never be able to comprehend? Is there an "in between"?

Just my $0.02

Why fear death? Do what you want to do each day and never fear anything.

actually, the hardcore don't believe in this/don't do this. and most non-hardcore that i know don't carry. most people i know that carry are normal, sane people; some christian, some not.

No reason to fear death if you're proud of what you're doing every day.

This is why I keep my apartment clean. I'd hate to be remembered as a slob.

^^ Exactly. I will never again do anything that i'm not proud (at least while i'm sober lol) of and i don't think i have in a long time (probably since like middle / early high school). If i were to die right now i'd have nothing to hide and i'm proud of who i am.

and before somebody comes mouthing off about how i should be ashamed of drinking too much fuck that i like getting shit faced every now and then.

I see it in a different way, I guess.. it's not that I'm not proud of what I'm doing, because I certainly am - I just want to actually "live the dream" and experience life more before leaving (or being taken away?)

Everyone wants to live a good life... not everyone is happy with who they are. I feel like the people i know who are afraid of death, are afraid because they think they will have missed out on something or that they won't have redeemed or made previous things right. Fuck that.

^This. When i die, first of all i don't believe that there will be anything, but even if there is its too fucking late at that point. So fuck it. Do what you want to do and have a good time.

I super respect General Patton for his feeling that he's been at every major battle ever. IT made him wiser due to his respect for history. I'm not sure I believe in reincarnation but its interesting, in case I die early.

Also the flesh fears death. I myself am not overly afraid of dying, I'll die when the Lord wishes, not amount of striving on my part could change that. Needless to say if someone is holding a gun to my head I'm probably not going to be all cool and collected and say I'm not afraid. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak is a fairly good description of why this would happen.

Heaven is hell.

If you spend eternity in one extreme, you won't know the other. No balance. Just mindlessness.

Can't believe people would actually want that.

My problem with heaven is that without imperfection i'd presume that perfection seems to be meaningless. Lets just ignore the logistical problems with the concept of heaven

Part of the heaven concept includes the intuition and full understanding of what "the other end of the spectrum would be like" . So in theory, you automatically know how good the constant perfection is.

^atheists are afraid of death because when they die, THATS IT.

I love this topic because it is too dumb to apply logic. Any solid logic (on either side) is easily countered by the most retarded assertion
