So.... friend went to a wedding and they had some alternate religion. Here's the skinny:

They drew a cross on a table out of sugar, and "whistled the spirits"
They then walked a crazy curved path in the sand and stopped every few feet to whistle some more spirits.
For good luck they whistled more spirits at the end of the wedding.

I only wish I was making this stuff up. What's the religion/cult/?
