I'm so pissed. This douchebag cop pulled over some lady in my wife's assigned spot. He had words with me when I tried talking to her, since he said was "interfering with his traffic stop," and "she could have a gun or something. He's on my fucking property and I can't talk to her? Anyway, he must have hauled her off or something and he left the car in my wife's space with no tags on it. I call RPD and they don't know shit. So now I gotta go do leg work for them and find out how to get it towed.

I was all "yessir/nosir," and polite with him. In hindsight, I should've told him the truth, which is that cops scare me more than people with expired tags.

call a lawyer, get it towed immediately..bill the city

the cost incurred by the city to sort it all out and pay for it will cover your legal costs and also get the cop in trouble (if everything you said is truly accurate and it is indeed your property)

Why did you try talking to her? Talk to the cop.

and by cover I mean if you're willing to gamble 200 bucks or so to seriously cause a couple grand expense to the city and thumb them in the eye

totally worth it

^^^^^^lol, I'd like to.

^^^^^I rent, but it's my assigned space in a townhouse. I'm guessing they have their own people, but that was my question. If it were my own house, would a tow truck company do it for free knowing they can impound it and get fees back (or take it to pay for the fees)? Or would I have to pay for it OOP? Sounds like the latter. Fuckers.

^^^^No, she was nasty, but they always have so many people pulled over along here compared to where I used to live (Cary) that I got curious.

^^^Always afraid they'll see me walking up to their car and try to shoot me. I don't like cops that I don't know. I have a couple of friends who are cops, which is why I say that.

^^I don't have the time or expertise for all that.

^Haha, you're devious. I love it!

Just get it towed. Let the towing company and the lady and the city fight over it. Not your problem then.

Does your place not have a towing policy? I bet they do.

Sounds like all you need to do is tell your apartment complex that an abandoned car is in your spot. Act ignorant if you want, or give them info and let them chase the money. Regardless it should be a simple matter to get rid of it in this situation.

^^Probably. I've never had to deal with them before. I'm obviously not the usual community member. I went to take my garbage down to the dumpster while this was going on and some old busybody grilled me about what was going on. She said the cops are always over at her neighbor's.

I really like the inside of my place, but I'm moving back to Cary asap.

^Cool, thanks for the advice. Looking up their # now.

I'm too slow at replies for this site lol

Yeah sorry dude, the assigned spot for your rental unit is sanctioned as assigned by the sole authority of your landlord's contract with you.

You can't take action without having contact with the landlord. The parkinglot is technically public that was probably treated as a city improvement during the real estate development, so there's nothing illegal about what the cop did. Your only option is to call landlord (maintenance hotline after hours).

If they tow the car to their I pound they won't charge. Because they'll recover from impound fees or from abandoned property. If they balk, explain its their perogative to take the car off your property.

Or, if it's nice, wait thirty days and seize the car yourself, and sell it.

knows not to run off in the woods by herself.

^^^^Ahahaha. I like that better than what it is. Might have to get an affiliate account.

^^^Duraleigh and Glenwood. Seems like every time I turn onto Glenwood, there's a car pulled over in the Walgreens there.

^Lol. Sorry, I was born to disappoint. That would've been fun, but that woman was a heavy tatted-up black lady. And she knows where I live haha.

The tow truck guy was just here and he pulled it out by the rear wheels... It's front wheel drive.

You could of atleast loosened the lugnuts on the front. Let a tire come off as he's towing it

Usually they just drag the tires, then hook it properly once they're around the block. Tow truck drivers do not care.

Planning on it. Or somewhere in the country with land where I can see the criminals coming and pick them off.

There wasn't enough room to get around the front end to tow it out, but he could've used the the dollies. He just didn't care.

Im sure he took her to jail for expired tags...

Anyway, it's not the cop's fault she stopped in your parking space when she was getting pulled over. If it's private property you call and get it towed.
