Actually, since she seems to be fit mantally and physically, that is super awesome.

That's all I ask for, I want to die while I am still able to take of myself fully. Whether that happens at 60 or at 100, doesn't matter. Because if you are not bedridden with a stroke, cancer, heart disease, etc., what does it matter how old you are? If you are fit, you can still enjoy life even if you are a 100.

To the OP: How old is her 'husband' (not your grandfather, I assume)?

^Agreed completely. My grandmother in law is 90, and still mows her own lawn and rides a mile on her bike every day. It's awesome to see that.

^^^ Agreed . . . I figure I'll be worn out well before I make 100 but she still gets around with nothing but a walker and still remembers a lot from the past. Her short term memory can be sketchy but she's cognizant enough of it that she can make fun of herself.

my great-grandmother died last year at 100 (and had remarkable health until that point).

it is absolutely mind boggling to think what she lived through. civil war was still in older generation's memory, the titanic sinking, world wars, technology, etc. crazy stuff. (ha, i enjoy history)

yay happy bday!! that is pretty freaking awesome!!! 100 years. holy crap. i wonder if i will ever even go to a birthday party for someone who turns 100 (let alone turn 100 myself). she looks great for 99 in that picture above!!!

my grandmother died last year at 92 and she looked a lot older than that. although she definitely lived an insane life. but her eyesight started failing. her mind was still sharp but her body just couldn't keep up.
