I graduated in 4.5 due to a co-op, but if I could go back I would take longer to graduate and enjoy the college life. Post-college is great, but undergrad is once in a lifetime.

Yeah I'm not sure I could date a girl who smoked. I could deal with very occasionally when we go out somewhere maybe, but if its an almost everyday thing I'd rather enjoy the fresh smelling air.

Constant smoking would be one for me too. A former gf was an occasional smoker, and that was a little annoying but not a dealbreaker. But I couldn't stand for that to be going on all the time or for my house and car to smell like smoke. No go there.

Smoking period is no. Shows she has a weak mind and is a follower. There is nothing constructive about smoking.

Passive-Aggressive is my #1 deal breaker. Plz to speak the fuck up sometime.

Some of these lists include the dumbest shit imaginable.

Taking longer than four years to finish undergrad? Talking to parents more than 3 times a week? Are you fucking serious? I hope whoever had that list ends up single for life.

My list is pretty short:

Fat
Ugly
Stupid

Now, what I consider fat might be perfectly acceptable to some. Ditto for ugly and stupid. I have pretty high standards. However, as I get older I'm finding more and more women attractive which is a sign that my standards have dropped significantly since I was fresh out of college.

From both inside and outside experience the type of girl who does that requires near endless amounts of attention and will consistently put you in a position to do things for her family but does not reciprocate. I'm not stating that it is true for all women and, as noted in my original post, it doesn't by itself disqualify a woman; however, I have noticed a trend and therefore use it as a guideline.

In addition to fat, ugly, and stupid I may have to add:

Has a kid.

I'm not 100% sure that this is a dealbreaker for me since I've never dated a woman with a kid before, but I know I don't want kids so having to deal with a kid who isn't even mine would probably be a big old no. Who knows, I might change my mind if the chick was otherwise amazing and the kid wasn't like most kids, but yeah... no women with kids.

before i met my current girlfriend, I dated a Cat Lady.

She had 5 cats. She was crazy. Like, mental problems crazy.

In retrospect, that shoulda been a dealbreaker.

well the number of cats owned increases the amount of crazy exponentially per cat.

so your 3 is nearly half the crazy of 5.

and since I love just a little crazy, I love my the cat my girlfriend and I have now.

some of the best conversations I've ever had with friends have been about both religion and politics

I don't really see what's so taboo about it

always nice to see where a person is coming from with their view of the world

The equation is number of -3(cats/2) + number of dogs +attractiveness/2-(NUMBER OF YEARS IT TOOK THEM TO GRADUATE UNDERGRAD/AMOUNT OF BUTTHURT*4)

I always try to minimize butthurt.

I don't bring up "atheism" that often, but I'm not going to be able to be myself around someone that is strongly religious. "Sorry babe, but your core beliefs are actually just bullshit." Yeah, that wouldn't work.

^ this

religion - namely cause most of the people that want to talk about it, are the ones that want to tell you you're wrong and going to hell.

politics - i talk to a few people about, but again, the ones that want to talk about it are the ones trying to convince me my opinion is wrong.

I also don't talk about religion or politics very much with my friends. Why? Because people get way too uppity and defensive over that shit and I don't feel like getting into a heated argument just to make someone else feel better about their ideals. They can believe what they want, and I can believe what I want.

Right, and people believing whatever they were raised to believe and never being required to think about why they have those beliefs is a problem. It's laziness and bad for society.

I can usually find common ground with people, and that's where I try to start, but you can't complain about how society doesn't change/progress if you can't be bothered to have important, necessary discussions about how those changes should come about with people that are close to you.

I can agree that we need to evolve our politics and religion.

Perhaps its time to stir up trouble in friendships with a good debatelecture from them about why their view is the only right one.

I think having lots of debt/credit and money issues if a major MAJOR dealbreaker.

K, but that's not where I was going at all. I have no problem talking about politics to SOME people, and one way I discover new things about how I feel is by personal experience, reading, etc. The discussion aspect really doesn't do much for me because there are few people who can talk about it calmly. And then there are people who push your buttons, or people who are defending something that you deem outrageous, or stupid, etc. I can't handle that.

Being a 'conservative' because her parents are. If you can carry on a solid conversation and have reasons why you believe what you believe then thats fine and i don't really care what you think.
