Where to go for one in raleigh/garner? I've heard mixed reviews of sending to the dealer due to tech unfamiliarity with diesels. I'd like to get it done ASAP and buy the truck today or tomorrow. ford f250 6.0 powerstroke

Rudy's in Durham would be a good shop, hell, AFAIK he's got one of if not the most powerful 6.4L PS trucks in the nation.

obligatory better buy a dodge

Only way I'd buy a 6.0 Powerscrote is if it has had the EGR delete and ARP head studs.

(how hard is it to do those things... i mean i know you'd clearly have to pull the heads so might as well do the timing gear too)

I'm going to get a diesel some day but honestly it will probably be a '96 dodge just because i like cummins simplicity.

EGR & head studs = lifting the cab off the chassis

There is a reason why the 6.0's catch a lot of flack

I'm actually looking at doing a 6.0 powerstroke for BigBlueRam's dad. I already did the EGR delete, and that was quite a pain in the ass; I think I could do it a lot faster now.

Most shops take the cab off because the engine is a TIGHT squeeze in there, and everything's much easier out in the open. It can be done with the cab on, but those are some tall heads due to the rocker carriers. I'm sure the heads would have to be put on the engine and THEN some of the studs would have to be threaded in.

Not a job to look forward to at all.

i honestly set out to buy a dodge but i couldnt find a quad cab, long bed, diesel, 2wd and automatic. i only drove one but immediately i knew what people meant when they said steering slop and ride was harsh as shit. I loved the acceleration. the ford was just way more comfortable, available, and better handling.

truuuuuuuuu.

buy a 7.3 or 6.4 if you can afford the fuel. 6.4's suck for fuel mileage. 6.4's can also put down 450hp with dpf delete, exhaust, intake, and programmer.
