Airtran also has $40 one-way fares to select markets (up to 450 miles I think)

http://www.airtran.com/sale/default.aspx?saleid=514

You can also get a $10 off coupon here for Airtran flights:

http://www.airtran.com/littledebbie/

My brother was able to use two email addys to get 2 coupons and he booked two one-way flights. Saved $20

Southwest doesn't even have business class. They can give me tickets for free and I wouldn't use them.

Airtran is ok for short flights, but the lack of food and entertainment options make them a poor choice for anything over a couple hours. Raleigh to New York is about as far as I'd be comfortable flying with them.

if you go airtran, and have a southwest rapid rewards account, sign up for the airtran rewards too

after the buyout shit is complete, they'll credit your sw account with the airtran points you gained.

i'm actually flying airtran for the first time next month. was markedly cheaper from texas to rdu than southwest/continental/united/etc... for the first time.

i fly airtran quite often. Southwest doesn't fly into here (wichita). But even when I've flown out of KC, southwest was significantly higher than airtran. Even if you factor in paying for a bag, airtran was still cheaper.
Of course, this is without any special offers or anything

i went to their RDU section and LAX was not in the list of destinations. I guess I could split it up but it loses its value the more stops i would have to add

Ah that sucks. I didn't even bother looking at west coast destinations (lack of friends to visit + cost)

Go to Burbank or Orange County. Both have SW and both are a short drive to LA

oh well, so much for buying a cheap flight. Thought I'd get home around 10-1030 and have plenty of time to buy a ticket. Didn't get home anywhere near the midnight deadline, whoops!
