Salisbury held its first gay pride festival yesterday. Over 2000 people showed up making it the second largest turnout in North Carolina. Many protesters (mostly churches) showed up as well. One outspoken preacher was out there all day yelling bible verses and telling people they were going to hell. An old lady walked up and kissed him and was charged with assault for it. You'd think the world was coming to an end with the way many residents are acting about the whole gay pride then, but I'm proud of my little hometown for stepping into the 21st century.

a coworker from Salisbury told me they had a guy from some sort of gay rights group come in and speak during her daughter's high school awards ceremony. I'm not sure what his speech was about, but he gave a scholarship to one of the gay students right in front of the whole assembly

I see it from both sides.

1) I don't want random people coming up and kissing me. That's gross and definitely a violation of personal space.

2) He'll probably drop the assault charge but he still needs to lighten up.
