a long time ago i enrolled at NCSU in 2003 and we were given something like 50 MB to store whatever we wanted on the NCSU FTP server.

how do i access these files?

It used to be you could just type in your ID name and an address and get access to it, but now i can't remember what that exact address was.

thanks lewis. i have reason to believe they are still there though, so could someone please explain how to access it or what the address would be?

guys, i fell through the cracks, and my account was not terminated years ago as it should have been, i still have my email account and i use it to this day.

but i just went on their FTP 30 mins ago and i tried to access those files and apparently that triggered them to realize that "hey, you're account should have been deactivated years ago." and so now that is what they are doing according to a letter i got in my inbox that was sent at the same time i typed in ftp.ncsu.edu into my browser (how did they know it was me anyway? i never entered any info...).

so before they deactivate all unity related stuff i need to make sure there is nothing stored on their FTP that I want.

you need a secure FTP browser. WS-FTP will probably get the job done. After that, just login to unity.ncsu.edu or something like that

I still troll the www4 domain of NCSU's unity space looking for publicly available user ID accounts using that URL formula and appending common and probable Unity ID text combinations.

I often do this instead of my homework in the odd possibility that there are [titpics] in www4.ncsu.edu/unity/~xxxxxx /index.html 's page or anything interesting anywhere.

Much like eating shellfish, it's more fun when you have to work really hard for a small reward.
