This is a long story, but I find it extremely hilarious.

So a little background:

My family is extremely polarized. Half of the family is very liberal and the other half is extremely conservative.

At the beach this past weekend celebrating the 4th, I had the pleasure of staying in a 3br double wide with the family. My uncle (one who is extremely conservative) was taking food scraps down to the landing to feed the gulls. Before he could get within 50 feet of the beach, a flock of 50 or so seagulls had showed up to get the free food.

He came back to the house declaring that he had a new name for the seagulls. He would then call them "welfare gulls" because they are always prowling for handouts. This enraged my aunt (one from the liberal half of the family). She went off on him saying that there are only certain gulls that look for the handouts, but the majority of them are off looking for food the "old fashioned" way.

I found this exchange particularly intriguing and hilarious.

But if conservatives had their way the beaches would all be sectioned off by sea walls to protect their developer pals which would inherently kills the seagulls through a collapsed food chain. Either that or the giant oil rigs that they'd have built along those sea walls would do them in.
