Walking into "All Around Pizzas and Deli"

Customer - "Do you have pizza?"

----------

Watching me finish wrapping up a sub:

"Do you have hoagies?"

-- yes.

"What size are they?

-- footlongs.

"How big is that?"

-- A foot.

"Can I see one?"

-- :holds up the bread bag:

"That's a footlong sub?!?"
"Oh no, that's too big."
"How big is your half [of sub]?"

at a McDonalds:

Customer: "What vegetables do y'all have?"
Me: "Well we don't really have vegetables...just french fries"
customer: "Y'all got any green beans?"

We learned later from a sheriff's deputy that she escaped from the old folks home

at a BBQ place for lunch, we pulled in right behind a volvo from CT.

we walk in behind them, a Dad, a Mom, and their 2 kids.

They get seated right behind us.

The waitress comes to take the order, and the Dad asks "BBQ'd what?"

"sir?"

"You said this was a bah-buh-cue place. bahbuhcued what?"

"uh, sir, bbq is pork in NC."

"oh (irritated) SO YOU DON'T HAVE CHICKEN?!"

"No sir, it's chopped or pulled."

"Fine. We're leaving. C'mon, we'll see if we can't find a KFC."

...

The entire place pretty much applauded when they left.

i dont agree that BBQ = pork but i would have joined in applauding when they left, especially if KFC is something they'd prefer

Right. BBQ is a noun, not a verb or adjective. BBQ is meat - cooked a specific way - with some kind of delicious sauce.

Retarded conversation between the couple behind us at Cirque du Soleil today:

Him: "I don't get why at these things they thank the sponsors. Really they should be thanking us for paying $10 for parking."
Her: "But if they didn't have corporate sponsors, then we'd probably have to pay more for parking and tickets."
Him: "Bullshit. The corporate sponsors just line their profits. They'd make money without the sponsors. They should be thanking me for paying $10 for parking."

I felt like turning around and suggesting next time they park at the flea market for free and walk

BBQ can be applied to anything, and if you are a true fan of BBQ, you will eat whatever it is slathered onto.

in nc though, any time you ask or order just "bbq" it will be assumed you mean pulled or chopped pork.
if you want barbecued chicken then you order that specifically.

It's pork in Virginia unless otherwise specified.
