I always hated Soul Train.

As a kid, Soul Train ruined my day every saturday as it marked the end of saturday morning cartoons. I started each Saturday morning off at 7a.m. with Speed Racer and 3-4 bowls of Peanut Butter Crunch. I owned the TV for the first hour until my little sister woke up.

Then we battled epically over shows until about 11 when NBA Inside Stuff came on. That was the last show worth watching, and then Soul Train would come on. The first time I saw it, I was like sweet, a cartoon about trains. Then i saw people dancing to music that didn't make sense to me, and this left me a very disappointed 7 year old.

It was the same thing every saturday. Every time I saw that fucking train I wanted to throw optimus prime at the TV.

Ahahah, I have the same visceral hatred for ESPN Sports Center. My brother and I are 3 years apart so I hit the middle school "I can sleep for days phase" about the time he was still in the preteen "I can get up all by myself and do big person stuff phase". Whenever we were on vacation with my family, he and I shared a room and it was inevitable, about 5 am that fucking show would come up and for the next 4 or 5 hours my rest was interrupted with the fucking Sports Center intro music.

Fuck that guy.

I was under the incorrect impression that it was cool to like Soul Train. So I really, really tried to get into it.

But do y'all remember the local Soul Train that used to come on? I knew a dude who was on it and thought he was the bee's knees.
