"Federal Reserve Ignores GOP Legislators' Request to Let America Suck It

Earlier today, top Senate and House Republicans sent an heartfelt earnest plea to Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke to please please please consider doing absolutely nothing to boost the U.S. economy or make any attempt to do anything that might accidentally foster job growth…

"Dear Chairman Bernanke,

It is our understanding that the Board Members of the Federal Reserve will meet later this week to consider additional monetary stimulus proposals. We write to express our reservations about any such measures. Respectfully, we submit that the board should resist further extraordinary intervention in the U.S. economy, particularly without a clear articulation of the goals of such a policy, direction for success, ample data proving a case for economic action and quantifiable benefits to the American people.

I think you meant the Republicans asked Bernanke not to implement more capital destruction. But he did it anyway.

We're all in this together. I don't understand why anyone would support global collapse like you continue to do. It's just inhumane for everyone to suffer, but good job for sticking to your guns while people starve.

"The Fed said it would launch a new $400 billion program that will tilt its $2.85 trillion balance sheet more heavily to longer-term securities by selling shorter-term notes and using those funds to purchase longer-dated Treasuries.

It will now also reinvest proceeds from maturing mortgage and agency bonds back into the mortgage market, an acknowledgement of just how weak conditions in the sector have remained.

"Recent indicators point to continuing weakness in overall labor market conditions, and the unemployment rate remains elevated," Fed said in its statement.

Faced with a lofty 9.1 percent jobless rate, consumer and business confidence sapped by a troubling US credit downgrade, and an escalating sovereign debt crisis in Europe, Fed officials have signaled they would seek to prevent already sluggish US growth from weakening further.

"But this is actually revealing in another way. What McConnell seems to be demonstrating here is that he assumes Americans will dismiss the very idea that Republicans could want Obama to fail as preposterous. And he very well may be right: As I’ve been arguing here regularly, Republicans very well may benefit politically in the long run from blocking Obama jobs policies — even though they have broad public support — because voters who are not tuned in to the finer points of Senate procedure may not know or care why his policies aren’t getting through. They may simply see Obama’s inability to get anything past GOP opposition as a sign of weakness and a failure to change Washington. They may not be able to bring themselves to believe that Republicans are blocking his jobs policies in order to sow public cynicism about partisanship-as-usual and make Obama look ineffective in order to deny him a second term, even though McConnell has basically admitted as much on the record. As McConnell suggested "

Quote :
"The Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Fla., has hanged an effigy of President Barack Obama from a gallows on its front lawn, a move DWOC pastor Terry Jones said was in response to Obama's recent endorsement of same-sex marriage, as well as his stance on abortion and what Jones called his "appeasing of radical Islam."

According to the Broward-Palm Beach New Times, the U.S. Secret Service is currently investigating Jones in response to the display.

"The Secret Service is aware of this incident and will conduct appropriate follow-up," Secret Service spokesman Brian Leary told the paper's "The Pulp" blog.

The effigy is suspended from a makeshift gallows with a noose of yellow rope, has a doll in its right hand and a rainbow-colored gay pride flag in its left."

Pryderi I admire your gumption. However, by this point it should be clear that Republican ideology is not based in any part on reasoned thought. There's no mathematical or statistical instrument in existence that would convince a modern conservative of any thought or idea contrary to his or her 'gut' feeling.

We can be thankful Obama is not at all a follower of a Soviet atheist who thought the family unit was unnecessary.

Stalin was worried about population growth, and so he emphasized the family's role in communism.
